So... there's a lot of people that don't have phones right now... even though you can find month by month plans (with no contract) really cheap nowadays through companies like Boost Mobile ($50/month). But, say, you can't afford that monthly fee, either. Whatever should you do??
There is a cellphone service available through Virgin Mobile called Assurance Wireless. It varies by area... but you receive 200 monthly minutes free, Internet and texting costs but that's pretty good... as a free deal!!! To become eligible, you of course have to be either unemployed or fall under one of the stipulations (food stamps, WIC, medicaid, etc.)... after visiting the website, you will have to call an 800 # and leave your information. Within 3-5 business days, you should receive paperwork to apply. Once you send it in and become approved, within another few days you'll have a new phone loaded with 200 free minutes!! The minutes do not roll over.
If you are interested, check out the link below. Varies by location.

I just learned about this assurance wireless today. It looks pretty much the same as the safelink thing. I live in Pennsylvania and they dont let you sign up for assurance wireless here. I am eligble for the safelink in my area but because I am already recieving lifeline where I receive $10 off my landline phone bill each month I cant get the safelink cell phone. Eventually I might cancel my landline phone then I can get the safelink cell phone. I dont very often use the landline phone anyway.

As I stated on the other post, I would keep checking back on the sites because the availability and location does change quite frequently.
