Gara actually a bit pathetic?

Hey everyone I was thinking this to myself whilst watching Naruto, (the episode where Saskue after chasing Gara right after/during the chonin exams, witht the leaf village being attacked catched up, and Gara for the first time reveals how he looks with the deamon and stuff like that). I couldn't help but feel if it wasn't for the weird urn, and if it wasnt for the demon (they are related anyway), then Gara would be incrediably weak. He has no real speed (at least, i havent seen any yet), no real strength, and all of his attacks base around that sand in the urn. And now i think about it, the same goes for Naruto. He to, doesn't have a great deal of skill, it is more just about the 9 tailed fox whenever he gets "serious" in a fight... Whereas characters like Saskue, Rock Lee, and Kakashi, have speed, training, strength, wisdom, and other attributes! hmm...
