I think its really a challenging step to take in your life. People usually get sick if they miss out their miles. I do appreciate to all the people of Islam. Who are here to risk their life for the prayers. May they all fulfill their wishes and good luck for them during this special one months pray.

In my case, fasting takes practice as with many households. We start quite early. With my son, I told him about fasting way when I thought he can understand and practice 'not eating' when he is about 9 years old.
That is also half day fsating which means if he is too hungry (becos as a kid he still plays in school), I will allow him to eat. He does gets stomach ache sometimes but now that hes 13, he gets better at fasting.
And I consider fasting not skipping meals but to eat at different times. We will eat at about 5 am or earlier before dawn and after dusk. We do get hungry which is the purpose of fasting because this is to remind us that there are still hungry people around us.
Fasting is also to practice restrain. That is can you stop yourself from eating when your friend is eating or can you not be angry when someone throws a rock at you. Fasting in Islam takes a lot of patience (which I dun have) but the rewards are multiplied when your fasting is blessed and that is the goal for most Muslims.
I thank you for your wish and I wish you well too.
