It is being reported that some agencies are using google earth to look at people houses. Why?
Well government agencies are doing it for tax purposes. So they can check and see if you put a deck or pool up without a permit. Or done other home improvement projects so they can make sure you paid the correct fines and/or property increase value taxes.
So are insurance companies. They want to make sure have declared everything correctly. That way people can't put in a inground pool and not let them know.
Which is fine...both of those could always send someone by your house to check...but also...google earth is open to anyone. Which means anyone could be looking into your back yard. Anyone else creeped out by this?
Also there are reports of big brother using it too.

I have a big privacy fence...which means I think I should have the right to privacy without the whole world being able to look in backyard. Who knows when that satelite will buzz by to take the picture so for all people know I could be back there sun bathing top less when it happens (which I don't do..I burn..not tan)...but still I think I have a right to a certain degree of privacy when it comes to my own backyard..especially if I have a privacy fence up.
Or has anyone thought of a criminal using it to case a house? they could map out there entry and exit without ever having to go in person...especially with their street view features. Or a pedophile using it to find houses with small kids...it would be easy...look for the houses with all the toys in the backyard.
Anyone else have an issue with Goggle Earth? Anyone else think it is wrong and an invasion of privacy? Or I am the only one that thinks it creepy to have all those pictures and information on the web for everyone to see?
