I used Hydrogen Peroxide to clean my ears a few times. I don't know if it can be done. Generally we should not let water to get into our ears which causes hearing problems and infections. Does Peroxide too cause infections or hearing problems if used regularly?

If you're using HP to clean out ear wax, then DON'T! Earwax is needed for normal operation of the ear and by removing it, you leave your ear very vulnerable to bacteria and other factors. If you have a scar or something similar inside your ear, one drop should be enough, definitely not more!

Hi, First of all, you will not get hearing problems and infections if you let water get into your ears, but you could get ear infections if the water stays in your ears for long time and if the water already is dirty, that is contain bacteria. However as you maybe know hydrogen peroxide (H202)is used for bleaching human hair and cleaning wounds (disinfectant), but it can also be found in the immune system. It is a strong oxidizing chemical and antimicrobial substance which means that it will kill bacteria but also damage your own cells, you will not get infections from it. BUT you should not clean your ears with it (it could damage your ear drum), there is already a wonderful substance in your ears, EAR WAX!, like it or not, it is the best protection against infections. You should not clean your ears to often, only when it is necessary. So, there is no reason for you to use hydrogen peroxide, just clean your ears with a cotton stick, but do not stick it to deep, just clean the excess of ear wax. You could also use toilet paper to clean your ears. If there's any other question, just comment!

This should only be done if you have clumps of ear wax in the ears as doing it frequently will disturb and be dangerous to the ear drum. The ear wax is there for a purpose it prevents severe bacterias from entering the ear canal. When and if necessary to use the hydrogen peroxide you should only use a few drops and let it sit there for about 20 - 30 seconds then with a pump flush the ear out with warm water and a irrigating pump. Please know that when a person suffers from severe clumps of was it is a common problem with the sinuses so a doctor should be consulted as it is dangerous to the ear canal. Hope this helps.

First, i want to inform you that i am not a doctor. Whatever I say after this is only according to my opinion and experience. =) Hydrogen Peroxide should't cause infections because it is a disinfectant. When you use hydrogen peroxide to clean your ears, you are supposed to dilute it with purified water. Hardened earwax may be softened with a diluted hydrogen peroxide.
