I am not a very superstitious person by nature. In fact I am not superstitious at all! But I have heard that friday the 13th is not a very good day and there are many bad things assosiated with the number 13 and worse if it is a friday. To set the records straight, I got married on 13th of November and I have not found anything unauspecious in that! In India, friday is the day we fast and go to temples and most important god worship is done on that day. Could anyone tell me what exactly started these rumors about friday the 13th? Thanks.

As such, i have never come across anthing bad that has been associated with me and this particular day, infact if i look back, i can easily say it has always been a excellent day for me. Now about the History, thought there is no written evidence to Friday, the 13th being a unlucky day, there has still always been superstitions about the same. The actual origin is traced back to a Norse Mythology. Friday is named after Frigga, the free spirited goddess of love and fertility. When Norse and Germanic forces converted into Christanity, Frigga was banished in shame to a mountaintop and labeled a witch. It was beleived that every Friday evening the spiteful goddess convened a meeting with eleven other witches plus the devil - a gathering of 13, and plotted ill fate for the whole week.
