dilemma

One often hears that in the management level, one has to be tough when dealing with personnel, particularly in terminating the services of one. And that in the management level one has to choose between performance that benefits the company which is the source of living and mercy or compassion for the individual about to be terminated. Easier said than done, I think, because when placed in an actual situation like the one above, it becomes a dilemma. Don't you think so?

Yes, I have done this kind of work before and it sure is not easy! But you get used to it after a while, no matter how strange it might sound. And in the end, if you don't do your job well at the management level, you might be getting the boot yourself, which is something you really need to keep in mind, and it does make the decisionmaking easier.
