Do you enjoy a good ball game and enjoy the stadium foods and drinks?

Then this might just be for you. I was reading on how sometimes that the stadium food and possibly other food stands at games, could be contaminated and have rat dropping and some with salmonella and that's not all even mold. Just let your imagine run wild and that is probably what your eating. And to top it off workers not washing their hands. I have only been to a stadium game once when I was 15 and I am glad I didn't eat the food there. But then I guess anytime we buy fast food or foods prepared by others we take that chance of eating more then we think. Here is a few links that will tell you more about the stories. It just gives me the willies and makes me a little bit nauseous. : http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/08/12/caution-sports-stadium-food-may-be-loaded-with-salmonella-and-rat-poop.aspx : http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/story?page=100725/stadiumconcessions You read and tell what you think. So what is your favorite stadium food?

I did not read the articles, because I don't want to know. I love baseball games, and I can't go to a game without getting food. I love their hot dogs, and a lot of the other food is good, too. I think that I would rather not know what is in it - that might not protect me or keep me healthy, but it is one of those "ignorance is bliss" things. There are enough things that I worry about on a daily basis, especially when the health of my family is concerned, and I do not need to add this to the list. Otherwise, I probably would never eat food that was not cooked in my own house again.

Yeah, I don't definitely don't want to get sick, but there are some things that I just really enjoy, and these days it seems like just about everything comes with a cautionary warning, so it is getting more difficult to just have fun and enjoy things without worrying about something. Besides, I can't afford to go to a ballgame any time soon, so I guess that I don't have to worry about it one way or the other. Still, eventually I would like to take my little one to a game, and I want her to be able to enjoy the "full experience" of a live baseball game ... hotdogs, cotton candy, soda, foul balls, too much sun, etc.

Yeah, I think that could be true of anyplace we decide to eat out. We just assume their places are clean and their food is good. I mean heck, we truly don't even know about grocery stores. I've seen some pretty nasty grocery stores in the city that I don't think I'd want to buy food from them! As far as going to stadiums.. we don't go often. I haven't been to a major league stadium in over 10 years.. I went to Toronto to see the Blue Jays when I was 16 and 18, and went to NY to see the Yankees when I was 18. At home we have a minor league stadium, and yes I've eaten there food quite frequently back in the day.. but we've been there once this year, and before that was a few years ago when my son's little league team was invited to take the field with the minor league players.

Yeah we had a few stores I went to once and never went back..ugh!..One went out of business fast..the other one keeps changing owners, but it doesn't change much but the prices fluctuating up and down. I went when I was 15 to watch a Reds vs. Pirates. the school took us for good attendance..can't you tell it was a man that chose where we went? I mean not a lot of us even enjoyed ourselves. At that age only time I liked baseball was when I was playing it myself.

Your Welcome Hatley, Sorry to hear that a stadium you frequented was on of the ones with problems. Thanks for the response it is appreciated. Yeah, it can give us pause and making us rethink about buying foods that aren't sealed or prepared by us at home. Although even sealed foods can have salmonella, or Ecoli especially salads and such.

Some of the stadiums here have fancier food than just the usual hot dogs, burgers, nachos, etc. The one in San Francisco during the McCartney concert I went to had lots of things, including sushi. And Staples Center in LA has Mexican, Italian, gourmet sandwiches, etc. Stadium food isn't what it used to be...

That is cool, with sushi..not so sure about..that one would have me worried eating from a vendor. But it would be cool to get other foods besides the hot dogs, peanuts and nachos..lol..Thanks for the response.

you probably right but I never think about stuff like some one spitting in my food when I'm out and about. I usually don't eat at concerts and I only been to 1 ball game and couldn't afford there food. That's probably a good thing course like you said "You never know what they did to it" So when you go out to eat don't piss off the cook

That's a good rule for at home..otherwise things will be burned or charred..lol..Yeah it is to overpriced and for that price you would expect to be served better safer stuff.

Ewww! The last time I ate stadium food was when I was around 16 years old; thankfully I haven’t been since and my daughter has never been and I may keep it that way! That is disgusting and it does make me feel nauseous too! I am aware that any type of food made by in public establishments is bound to contain anything but we cannot afford to think too much about it or we would never go out for dinner again! Ignorance can truly be bliss and a word of advice, be very nice to waiters, waitresses and anyone else who has something to do with preparing your food!

Thanks for the response to my discussion Paula. I appreciate it. Well, there is a way around it. Take your own drinks and snacks so you will still be able to enjoy the game but not have to worry so much about the food. Yeah, that is true. Especially if you plan on going back to the same place..Ugh! this is enough to keep me away from take out and fast food place for awhile..which is good being I started my diet today..lol

The most we have ordered at a stadium is drinks. One time on the cooking channel we saw this restaurant who was losing alot of clients. This chef went into the place to try to help them build up their clientel but the chef found roaches everywhere! It was so gross because he told the owner didn't he ever go to the kitchen to check out what was happening? He immediately called an exterminator to fumigate the place. It's just not the stadiums....

True, it isn't just the stadiums it is everywhere you eat out practically. My husband ate at Burger King and ended up very sick after eating there. And a few others said they did as well. We no longer go there because of it. Food poisoning is not fun and can be deadly in the very young and the elderly. If a place like that had that many roaches it seems the health inspector wasn't doing their jobs.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, sometimes though we can't view with the eye the problems that are there with the food. Like the salmonella and all. But thanks for the response and stay healthy..and enjoy.
