Religious Intolerance

I see so much intolerance here on mylot. Especially anti Semitic statements against Jews and Muslims. Every religion has its extremist elements and terrorists, Somehow Christian terrorist and extremist are given a pass. Can't we just say that all forms of religious extremism is wrong and that we denounce all forms of violence in the name of G_D? And we should understand that the world is not free. In some countries it is impossible to denounce terrorism because to do so would put a persons life in jeopardy because the extremist controle that country. I am so tiered of post like Christian VRS. Muslims, or which religion is better. What ever is right for you is right for you, why should one be better than the other? Is there one G_D or many? Is only one race the children of G_D or all we all?

What you say is true Free, however you are a romantic...a dreamer. No one sees what they are saying as fanaticism or extreme. They only know that they are "Right" and that they have the right to say what they think. So, they say it. I have always feared Fanaticism, mostly because they are not aware that they are fanatics...Secondly because there is no stopping them. There are fanatics in all religions and they are all frightening. The wider spread the religion, the more frightening and the more powerful the fanatics even if they are only a small %. Everyone should be able to believe as they wish...they should not be able to force it on anyone else. People should not be allowed to proselytize outside of their churches, mosques or whatever. Mind you I said PROSELYTIZE...I did not say pray or speak of their religion or discuss it or anything else...just proselytize. I think this would help a lot with the dissension.... Shalom~Adoniah

Yes I am a dreamer, I have a dream that one day, Muslim Christian and Jewish boys and girls can work and play together and their worthiness will not be determined by the holy book they read or by the color of their skin. To dream the impossible dream, let the dream become contagious!

Don't you understand?? THe interaction along with the open exchange of ideas is the fix. Even your discussion, brings out a view that needs to be seen. God allows freedom of speech. Why doesn't mankind??? With freedom of speech it is impossible to control the view. God gave everyone a different view to guaranty mankind a larger view than any one person can have. AS for me, I WANT THE BIG PICTURE!!. We can all interact to correct errors and learn from each other. Sure there will be Drama but that is where the learning usually is. It will all work it's self out over time as long as everyone can be heard.

Freedom of speech is one thing, and open dialog is great. But what everyone forgets, with the freedom of speech comes consequences. The open attacks is not dialog, and though I support free speech, I also support consequences for individual actions. Freedom of speech does not out way a persons right to exist, when people call for the annihilation of a whole people do we allow this poison and venom to fester into another holocaust or do we then speak out against it and ACT against the hatred?

Intolerance, unfortunately, exists everywhere, and there really isn't much that will ever change that fact, also unfortunate. I have no issue with controversial topics as long as the individual viewpoints are discussed amicably. Personally, I am Christian, and even among fellow Christians what I believe is different than what some believe, and so forth. We are each different in our thinking and to me that is pretty much a good thing. There is always more to learn about each other and about ourselves through discussion of our differences. I recently wrote a book review for a children's book and it was a controversial topic the book was about; would fit well with this conversation but I can't add the link to my review here, a shame...

Why do you bother on this? Every person has the right to say what he wants. If he feels that his own religion is the best, he will always protect it and maybe get carried away. But not everything that is said against Jews and Muslim is antisemitism, just many feel that it is. When you say about somebody something that he has done and it is proved, it is not an accusation, it is a fact. If you know what I mean. This is what I wanted to say.

Yes I do understand what you are saying. What I am saying is about the things said that are not true or are just one sided. It is like the Christian who justifies his blowing up an abortion clinic in the name of G_D and then condemns his Muslim counterparts. IF one believes his religion superior that is also fine, but why start an argument about why his is superior? And as for as proven as fact, wasn't it a fact Saddam had WMD's? You can not read a bias media account and say "This is Fact".
