Do we need to eat vegetables?

Many contain pesticides and fertilizers. Some are organic but expensive. Supplements on the other hand are cheap, highly nutritious, readily available, it doesn't spoil as fast, no cooking required, Just add water, sometimes no water needed, balances nutrition. Fiber can also be bought at markets. Why do we need to eat vegetables?

Many vegetables are cheap, definitely moreso than supplements/vitamins. The benefits extracted from any fruits and vegetables are also not manufactured efficiently in supplements. We still do not fully understand why certain foods give us the benefits they do, but it is clearly the interaction among many properties. This is why antioxidants in fruits are so useful, but antioxidant supplements cause harm, as shown in many studies easily found online.

There is nothing like the real thing!!!! Who knows what else is in veggies that scientists haven't discovered yet??? Supplements don't supply everything veggies do. I have discovered that if you keep eating veggies, you acquire a taste for them. You might just discover in your old age that they are the only things that go down easy. Old guts don't like junk food.

Supplements can not even come close to offering the same benefits raw unprocessed vegetables do. In fact, most are actually harmful to you, because your body was not meant to take in vitamins, minerals, etc that way. Also, you need energy. There isn't any energy in supplements.

Well, I did not mention anything about not eating grains. Your smarter than that. So as far as energy are concerned it is cheap to buy carbohydrates like grains and root crops. I'm not suggesting an absolute supplement diet.

Yes, but those metabolize too quickly, where fruit and vegetables do not. Plus, they are just plain bad for you. But yes, they are cheaper; that is why the food board shoves them in your face: because they are able to profit off of them more than vegetables and fruits, both directly and indirectly. Directly: Vegetables don't keep as long as grains, grains are very easy to produce etc. Indirectly: People who eat a lot of grains, other than fruits and vegetables, tend to be more unhealthy, so they have to spend money on healthcare as well: more trips to the hospital, buying more supplements, medication etc. Basically, they are trying to make us unhealthy and unwell. So take the money you do to buy grains and supplements, and go buy fruits and vegetables, meat and nuts and seeds instead.

You still don't get it do you? Well, first of all I'm only excluding vegetables in my question. Secondly, fruits are not vegetables though there are some exceptions like tomato. I did not mention meat because it is out of the question. Like I said I'm not suggesting an absolute diet here, I'm just asking why do we need to eat vegetables if there are supplements?

fruits and vegetables are an important part of our diet,When talking about healthy diet, you cannot ignore fruits and vegetables.Veggies are naturally filled with tons of nutrients, like vitamins, that are essential for your body to have Your body can only get the vitamins it needs if you give them to it, because there isn’t a part of the body responsible for making them otherwise. In addition to being vitamin-packed vegetables are also really low in calories and full of fiber!

what kind of fibers can you buy in the market? i am not sure we have that much here in the Philippines. we only have vegetables, and organic ones too but not really fiber as you might have said it... unless of course if you are talking about cilium capsules. its got fiber, but its got not much nutrition as you can get from the variety of vegetables that you can eat.

Well supplements don't only come in pills form. They can be liquid or powdered like ensure or benefiber. I used to live in the Philippines and I remember Nesvita, it has fiber, actually that is why it sells because of its fiber content.

Vegetables are an important food to eat. They have so many vitamins and nutrients that our bodies need for good health. Vegetables may not always be our favorite foods to eat but we need them for our growth and development.

While supplements can provide us with the necessary nutrients that comes with the vegetables, they are not the real McCoy. Why do we have to buy fiber and supplements while they are easily found in vegetables.

Isn't it because people don't eat veggies so they developed supplements. Anyway, I think organic veggies are expensive when you can just buy the cheaper one. I think organic foods don't make much of a difference, they are all the same to me.

I grow up eating vegetables and I understand how it works in my system. The Go, Grow, Glow food chart was taught in every level in schools in my country. Go for carbohydrates. Grow for protein. Glow for fruits and vegetables. I have had days when I haven't eaten enough veggies and I could tell the big difference. Supplements are called supplements because they are just supplements to the main food. I suggest you try a week or more without any vegetables and then another week with vegetables. You will see the difference.
