Have you ever ...touched a certain subject here in mylot and afterward found your reputation decrease by a few consistent points? Why do you think that is?
I traced some of my reputation decreasing motives and i have to say i found it very funny. I upset some Twilight fans for saying i don't like the show :)) I don't get it why people find it so hard to believe that others might not share their interest and be offended by that. Also, i dared speak my mind very openly on a certain tabu subject and tried to shed a new light on it (incest subject) And again another decrease :)
I'm a person that speaks her mind very openly and these little incidents amused me greatly.
Has this happen to you?Have you figured out why your reputation went down and do you find it amusing or upsetting? I have to say I'm more interested in the funny story than the ones about frustrating events.

reyachan I think a lot of new users when they respond hit the negative if your opinion does not agree with theirs and of course they being new refused to read the information that would have told them do not hit minus key just because the user's opinion didnot agree with yours., we all have a right to our own opinions and we must respect each others opinions and never minus anyone only for having a different opinion. but be sure if you s peak your mind openly you also do not insult the other person because that is not smiled on.I do not worry too much about my rep,its ninety percent and red star, good enou gh for me and it does not go down , the more points you make on here the less easy it is for people to deliberately minus you.

Hello, Hatley! I have to admit i didn't think of it as a mistake due to lack of knowledge from newbies, if I may call them so. I really hope you're right though, because it would be silly to rate someone negatively for not liking Twilight :)))
Thank you for this insight and i hope we'll cross paths again through here. Happy myloting!

Hello JudgeIronFist and welcome :) I can see that you are pretty new among us by your number of posts.Reputation is shown in that little star next to your name. That shows if people like or dislike your answers, because the value grows when they rate your answers with a plus and drops when they rate them with a minus.
(Which reminds me of my 7 point down in only 2 hours today for repeating that thing about Twilight :)))) LOL!)
The rank you can see above each answer. It shows your activity in the category you posted (interest).
My advice to you as well would be to read the faqs and discussion guidelines. That way you can get a little more familiar with terms like interest, reputation, ratings, refferals, etc.
Good luck and Happy myloting!

till now ,i have not met this situation ,because i am a newcomer ,and even do not know how to get reputation ,can you tell something about how to get reputation?only post new discussion or response other's topic to a certain quantity?
maybe next time ,in a day ,i will also meet your situation , i think ,this a website ,different responses have different meanings ,as long as it is your real thought ,if always decrease the reputation only because you disagree with their view ,i think it is unfair ,maybe some different views just give you some different ways for a trying ,all of us are not professor ,just write down our thoughts ,only to hope that give other's some help if the response is really useful..

Hello maomao and welcome to mylot! First of all i have to say that the incident i stated above is not a recurring event. It doesn't always happen, that's why i started this discussion. To try to find out the opinions of those to which his happened
Now, to answer most of the questions mylot has provided us with excelent guidelines and faqs which you can find in the upper menu as a button under the general name of "mylot".
To put it short, reputation is a rating the other users give us, not the mylot team. Other users can use the "+","-" buttons next to each of our response to rate them positively or negatively. If our answers are "plused", our reputation grows, if it's "minused" it decreases.
Hope i was of help to you, but i strongly advise you to read the faqs and the discussion guidelines. It will help you answer a lot of questions you didn't even know you had...yet :) Or at least in my case they did.
Happy myloting and good ratings! :)

I absolutely agree on this. I have started to have a reputation of 6 because that time I have responded to a certain topic about the use of food supplements. I just said that I don't take it because I just eat healthy foods. I do not take food supplements at all because they are synthetics. I all want natural from the healthy foods that i take. then I am sure that one member taken it in a different thing. I am sure he was the one who put all the negative marks on me and I am pretty sure all of my responses here was marked negative. anyway, if these people will just mark negative on you just because of our differences on how we perceive things then it is really very silly. It will all go up if we just continue to post great topics and nice responses.

Thank you for your response, aaronfyzeon. Yeah, i know how that feels, but I'm not worried about reputation, though 6 points down in one day is a personal record so far :)) I'm sure it will grow back, i was just amused on how passionate some people take their favorite topics.
I think people should be more flexible in their judgement and try not to bash others for not thinking the same things as them.
Happy myloting! :)
