How long do you grasp information?

Sometimes, I tend to be so short termed in memory. Yet, when I practice what i've learned, it creates lifetime habit and no need to grasp for it because it's part of me already. However, let's face it, information we get everyday is not always applicable in our daily routine. How long will that info last? Will it pop-up only from our coconut shells when we face that matter again?

I tend to retain very random facts and information that isn't really relevant at all. I'll think of it at odd times and share it with someone else who will give me a confused look and reply with "O...kaaaaay?" When it's information I need to remember for school, what does the trick for me is reading the information, taking notes by hand, and then typing out the notes into Microsoft Word. After that, the information is pretty much stuck in my brain for good, but I'll print out the notes and read through them a few times just to be safe.

Hi,therenthead, your technique is good. Especially when studying, your way to grasp for information could be utilized by the many as well. Keep it up!
