Jamaica

recently i have heard people talking about things that we eat and drink are not bad its just the quantity that we ingest. From the day i was born i was never a fan of water. Recently i realized that i need it to dilute some of the sweet things i eat. Then i started to get addicted to water. I am here thinking its a good thing until someone warns me that too much water is not good for me and i was like how??? But that person could not give me a good reason. So could anyone give me a good reason or if there is such a situation that too much water is not good??

Ah, I want to give you a simple breakdown of the water intake you could try to keep your water level proper: two glasses after you wake up to refresh your body and activate the organs one glass 30 minutes before every meal to boost your metabolism one glass before taking a bath to help lower blood pressure and one glass before you sleep to synchronize the system and avoid stroke or heart attack.. Hope this helps you a lot. The correct timing will maximize the effect of water for the body.

Hi Intercooler, too much water causes water intoxication. Because water dilutes the sodium in the body, in makes cells swell. Much worse, water also make brain cells swell that you can lose your eyesight with too much water because it is the back portion of the brain that gets most of the water. But don't worry, just take in 7-8 glasses a day, not several liters. Too less will cause dehydration which is also bad for the health. Good to know you are health conscious ^_^ Keep it up, you create great discussions my friend

actually you should take a few liters of water. The recommended amount of water is at least 8 glasses of water. a glass of water is measured at 250ml. 250ml * 8 = 2 Liters. (250ml * 8 = 2000ml; there are a thousand ml in a l so : 2000ml/1000L = 2L) simple grade school conversion You need drink at least 2 liters of water, I think an excessive amount would be more than 4 liters :) Aside from losing vitamins and minerals, you also risk having diarrhea and intoxication.

NO! That's what people thought but that is a very wrong idea. When I had a body fat analysis a few months ago, the physician told me that I need to drink plenty of water and its wrong to think that too much water is bad.

I think it can only have a harmful effect if you drink very extreme amounts of it, but then I heard (or read somewhere) that it can sort of wash out all the vitamins and minerals of your body. But if you are drinking normal amounts and not insane amounts, you should be fine, this is really for very extreme cases I think!

Your body needs vitamins and minerals at proper levels, too much water dilutes them and after time you'll excrete them before you were able to absorb them. But that's when you taken more than twice the needed water amount. You need vitamins and minerals for many body functions, for example, you lack potassium, sodium level will get higher than potassium and your muscles will experience cramps. Potassium and sodium should be in proper amount for the muscles to function.

It makes your kidney have to work overtime to filter out all that water. It can flush out salt that your body needs and also minerals. Too much of anything is bad for you.

It's called water intoxication: is a potential fatal disturbance in the brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body are pushed outside of safe limits by over consumption of water. Which normally happens during water drinking contest...not to worry if your healthy

It has to be extreme amounts of water, and you can literally drown yourself from the inside out if you drink more than your body can digest. You literally drown your organs and water takes over your body.

Too many sweets is not good for you. And diluting them with water won't change that. But I don't think that you can drink too much water. As long as it is pure water. soda water or mineral water could be a problem.

Everything that is too much is not good. Like what you are asking if too much water is bad to your body or health. As I know water helps to clean our internal and external body. It washes the dirt outside but he inside effect if we drink water it helps our colon clean and with the fibers. To make it free from the toxic that stacks inside the colon. It helps also nourished our body. water has a lots of use to makes us healthy. But in the proper intake. makes everything moderate. Thanks and have a nice day!

I agree with what the rest of them said regarding ingesting too much water, but I think too much water refers to tens of gallons a day. If you drink like 20 glasses a day, I highly doubt it can harm your body in anyway.

Water is really good for the body especially for digestion. And I actually encouraged my relatives especially the children to take atleast 8 glasses of water. But of course, even without proof, we should be aware that anything in excess is bad, and if lack of water does harm in our body, for sure it does have the same effect if we take in excess of what is appropriate. I don't know how to explain but there is such a term like water intoxication or water poisoning..I haven't read the full article on that actually, I just got browsed it somewhere when I am researching for my nephew's assignment. But one thing is for sure. Anything in excess is also bad. You can try to reseach if it really bothers you. Or better ask the medical authorities regarding your concern.

I haven't encounter that, but I know that any good things if its too much it has a bad effect on us. Actually I don't drink water much, though its bad, but I really try hard to drink the ideal amount of water everyday, but as I try hard it make me realized if you drink water continually your stomach will hurt, so I guess there should be interval except if the person is dehydrated...hehehehe... God bless you and your whole family.

Hi intercoler, Having too much food isn't good but there is nothing wrong with taking too much water. In fact it is a good thing to have lots of water. The only downside to having lots of water would be the need to go to the toilet more often, that is all. Maintaining fluids in the body is an important thing. Not having enough water causes dehydration, but one can always avoid it if he or she has lots of fluid intakes regularly. Take care.
