I was in the mood to go to goodwill and so my husband and I went and looked around. I saw, and now I forget what it was, but something that was the color of one of the pieces we have, it was red and orange and looked to be from the same collection. We didn't get it though. Then we went and looked at the books they had. My husband got a stack of Tom Clancy books, and I got a few books, one a poem book, another a quote / Bible Scripture book, and two novels. We don't have a camera or we'd take a picture. Our total came out to $10.70, we got 9 books for that price. So has anyone else found some great books and great prices recently, and where did you get them?

My husband only reads certain types of books, when I saw a Tom Clancy book on their shelves, and then he found four others, we just knew we had to get them. I love finding good deals on books, gohastings is one place I find some good deals, and of course libraries often do have good book deals as well.

They sure do have a lot of those as well, It's been awhile since I've been to the Salvation Army, but I remember they had a lot of those at our store.

I generally don't look for fiction at thrift stores; I buy reference and occasionally cook books.

Devil's Disciples - Devil's Disciples book
I often window shop at Amazon for books. A lost of suppliers sell used books, so they are cheap. The last one I bought- my partners's copy of this had fallen apart, was about Hitler's 'inner circle'. The seller discovered that it was not in the condition that they had marketed it at, so I got it for free!

That's a lot cheaper then one penny which is what I've seen some books there at! We've shopped there for Christmas presents and have gotten a nice stack of books for not all that much, which was nice.

i typically dont buy books, i use my local library (then i dont have to store them) but i do love thrift stores. i often hunt for clothes there and know an antique dealer that frequents all the thrift stores in my city and always picks up something.

It's amazing what people are giving away now, china especially. Though I suppose they give it away because it's not a complete set, I would keep it anyway myself.

That is an amazing bargain. I buy all my books second hand from the Cancer Society and then I also donate what I have read and do not wish to keep. Happy reading to you both

Here we have walks, and at the walks there is an auction to purchase chairs people have made. There's also of course church concession stands, and other knick knacks and things with the cancer society logo on it. I wonder if you can donate books, I suppose so but am not sure. I don't like getting rid of books if I can help it though, and I find showing my support by going to the walks also makes me value life more, feel blessed, and remember those that have passed because of Cancer, especially those in mine and my husband's family. Whenever you come around this way again you should stop by a goodwill, I love shopping at stores like that. Did that website I gave you help?

I first went to a goodwill store last year while I was in Wisconsin visiting with my mother in law and I loved it!!! We were able to go in there get each of my two children 8 school outfits as well as 4 shirts for my husband for only $60 which is awesome. I decided this year that I am once again going to do the same thing for their school clothes...I have purchased a few items for them brand new lie shoes, backpacks and a few other outfits but I will be going here next week and getting almost all of their clothes from the goodwill. The best part of shopping in these types of stores are the fact that most of these clothes are still in great shape therefore no one knows whether you bouthg them new or at the goodwill and with as fast as kids grow and stain their clothes your not out that much money!!

Check out the books section as well if you have the chance, they have nice books for children most of the time in most of the ones I've been in. We bought my work clothes for my last job at the goodwill and at rugged warehouse, it's great these type of stores are available as the clothes are usually very nice and hardly worn. We don't have kids yet, but I say why shop at a high priced kids store for clothes when your right they grow out of them so fast.

I often shop at my neighbors house for books hah lucky me! They're an older retired couple and they purchase every book on the market read them and pass them on to me. I have this great collection of wonderful books many new some older like Shakespeare and Thoreau, but I just have this great collection that I haven't had to pay for and its amazing. I feel so lucky to be able to indulge in such wonderful books.

Wow that is very lucky for you to not have to pay for them, and get some great finds. The couple must really love to read if they buy every book on the market! They're are some really great authors out there.

Goodwill is a great place to pick up bargains and support your local community and the needy. It's also one of the most broadest range as the items are donated and can be located for anywhere!! there are all sorts of household items ornaments and children/baby toys and products that are still in great condition but a fraction of the cost. A good idea when you are feeling in one of these moods, is to clean out your own wardrobes/cupboards of things you dont use and donate them. They could become someone else bargains and we all have clothes that don't fit or we are never going to wear in our cupboards.

Thanks for the best response!! =) that's great. Yes i certainly agree, and it's important that everyone should have access to the things we all need. at any price, we should all have the basic belongings our families need to live comfortably no matter how much money we have. Then there are the things we like and want. There are so many people out there who do not care about others and i like to do as much as i can to help where i can for these reasons.

We donate to goodwill a few times of year usually. It's great to give back, and I love also shopping there because of the great deals. My husband and I went there again today, and also to the Salvation Army. They have great stuff, sometimes even china that is just beautiful! Yes, I agree we all have things that just sit in our closets and drawers, in our pantry's and so on, that we just don't use.

I think I need to come to yalls goodwill location lol! Also I thought you were usually not on at this time? Happy Mylotting!

I lied, lol well I miscalculated, it was $9.70 and not $10.70, I think I thought ten because we had a ten in our wallet, and the debit machine was on the fritz, but it went through. We are up watching Moo Mesa, we are up a little later then usual but he's off tonight and tomorrow night, so we can afford to be. Plus I just have the itch to mylot! shopgoodwill.com enter that site at your own risk, they have a lot of nice things!
