A few years back I started to suffer with dizzy spells. Eventually I went to my doctor to see what was wrong with me. As I seemed healthy enough and he didn't really know what the problem was he sent me off to have some blood tests which didn't show anything up. I suggested to him that it might be vertigo as I have had it once before and my nan suffers with it. He put me on a short course of tablets but it didn't improve so I just left it. Then the kids went back to school, I started to get more sleep and low and behold the symptoms stopped. It was purely sleep deprivation, that was all. Now I know that if I get a dizzy spell that I need to get an early night. When I first had my children I of course was deprived of sleep but I never seemed feel any effects from it apart from feeling tired!
Have you ever suffered from sleep deprivation? How did it effect you?

0h humbug usuaully when one suffers from vertigo its an inner
ear problem that affects our balance, in any event not getting enough
sleep can really do a number on you. With me its more my mood or
disposition, I get grumpy and short tempered and I hate being
that way. I will get dizzy if my blood sugar goes way low as a
prelude to fainting also low blood pressure will cause dizzyness.
'Have you had a diabetic blood check up for diabetes and for
low blood sugar? Anyway if the symptoms stopped great, and you
know you need more sleep. I have had this not enough sleep for ages
here as my roommate gets up and roams at night, leaving the door to
the hall open and the light floods in waking me up, three or four
times a night. talking to her about its like talking to a brick wall.
lol.

Hi ya Hatley
Aww that is not good hun, could you not get a new roomie? I am sure that during the day she is a very nice person but it is not good for you to be woken so many times during the night and because of someone else, is that not what a partner is for haha
. When they tested my blood before it didn't show anything and I assume they would have checked for diabetes then, well you would think they did haha

Hi cher913
Vertigo is really horrible, really really horrible. I nearly fainted with it and the doctor had to come to my house and give me an injection in my backside which was really painful, needless to say I haven't forgotten about it in hurry even though it was about 20 odd years ago now!
Thanks for your response

I suffer from sleep deprivation on a regular basis. I have sleep apnea, and that combined with my back pain doesn't allow for more than 3 hours of sleep at a shot, so I end up taking at least one or two extended naps during the day. I'm tired all the time and often feel like I'm slightly drunk or faint.
I can't remember the last time I got a good night's sleep! So I tend to struggle on through force of will alone. Another side effect is that when I do get into some decent REM sleep, my dreams are extremely vivid.
They say you can never recover lost sleep, but I sure give it one heck of a try with my extended naps though! :-)

Cheers
