I would post a topic on mylot just before I shut off the computer because...

when I come back after a few hours or the next day or so, it's exciting to see how many responses I have got.... Do you feel excited on seeing many responses on your posts? I always do because it means my topics are getting attention or that it interests people. It doesn't matter even if it's just a few responses as long as it breaks through the zero line. Then, I will try to reply back as fast as I can. So my friends here, do you feel excited on seeing responses to your topics? Do you feel inclined to reply immediately, or do you wait a while for many responses before you comment back?

That is the opposite of how I do it. I never start a discussion and then go offf and leave it. I wouldn't start a conversation offline and then come back later to continue it and I find it to be the same here. If I haven't got time to comment on the first responses, then I leave it until another day. That is the reason why I don't start many at all. I usually start them on my day off because I know that I can be here all the time. The other days I am on and off responding and commenting here and there but I couldn't be here to further a new topic, so I prefer to wait. Of course I am pleased to see responses but I feel that they deserve commenting on as soon as possible

That was a wonderful way of responding, I sure would like to see responses back so fast. For me, maybe my brain doesn't work so fast, sometimes I have to hold back and wait a while first before replying so I can think of a good answer. On the other hand, when I get responses fast and it's from people whom I know a bit better here, it's also fun to have those "to and fro" conversations.

As time goes by and you have more and more friends on your list who receive a notifier when you start a new topic, you will see more responses as soon as you post. You know that those users are here and able to communicate right away so if you comment back then there is a huge possibility that they will comment again and you can get a long 'chain' of comments going. Sometimes others join in too and that's when the fun starts

I guess I don't have that many responses or friends yet to see that kind of situation, though I have experienced a few in some of my friends' topics and yes, it's really fun. Let me try to do that when I'm free for several hours in one day. Thanks Diana, for the comment and the insight!

Hello bluemoonpavilion, I can understand your excitement for seeing the responses. I used to do that, but now i am responding them rather quickly. I think if there is a lot of activity going on in the discussion, it could bring it to the hot topics sections quite easily. The last time i had started a discussion, i never thought it could climb up with the other hot topics because it was something related to cell phone, but it just did because i am was active and i was getting active responses as well, and that made it fun too. Try it one day, i am sure you will like it.

Well, back when I was more active here, I used to do a lot of posting in here of New discussions at quite interesting times, and was always excited to come in here and see how others had responded back, and if they had. I find you can always learn something from others here, and meet so many wonderful people when doing so. I think I need to think about becoming more active in here myself, and maybe retrying this technique again, but finding time to be here is a hard one for sure.

There have been a lot of things keeping me from being as active here as I once was. Many of them Health related for sure. But I will admit you can learn a lot from being a member here, and have fun doing so as well.

Hi, You sure have a lot of posts judging by your number... Are you inactive recently? Time is our greatest enemy which we always tried to pull over to our side and failing. Like you, I have learnt a lot of things from the people here and there are some news which I got to hear about it here firsthand.

As my time here is sporadic, I can only reply as I have time. My replies can appear at any time. Sometime quickly and sometimes even weeks later. But I always try to reply to very comment.

When we get a notification, then it easy to eventually reply. I have noticed though, that we don't always get every notification, so every once in a while I check my topics to see if there is any new comment. I too feel that every comment deserves a reply, even if it just a quick thank you.

Hi, I always appreciate replies to my responses and comments, especially from the original posters, regardless of how late they may be, so thanks for doing that. Replies on comments might be a little difficult to trace though and I might miss seeing those.

I don't have enough patience! Not that it makes much difference. Its not like I have hoardes of crazed fans tripping over themselves to respond to my posts I am grateful if I get more than a few responses, and I dare not leave them to cool!

I had one not long ago that elicited over 30 responses. I still haven't recovered from the shock. You're right though, as more people get to know you, they tend to respond. There are definitely mylot celebs here. no question.

Having a lot of responses will help us to earn....how? If you respond back to everyone of them, or least to some of them. It may be hard for us to start writing from scratch so when we have some input from people, we can respond back, there is already some sort of help there
• Singapore

haha, you are so funny....I had a good laugh reading your response. So, I wonder are there any celebrities here on mylot, not real life celebrities but those who really have fans following them around? hmmm, that could be my next topic I started out with very few responses on my topics, but occasionally I will start one which, surprisingly, received a lot of responses. I'm trying to analyze what causes this kind of effect...

I'll wait for responses normally. It's always exciting to anticipate and reply immediately. If I need a break I'll just switch off unless I dozed off on the chair like last week.

Instant chat, yes, interesting. That was exactly what I did last week, 1 to 1 through many discussions for several hours. Wonderful experience! Too exciting to stop until the body decided to rest. And there I was waking up from the chair the next morning. Considering a safety belt now in case I should roll off.

I'm trying to do an instant chat here, it's a pity we don't have this option to see the online members...but I guess it's too big a community. What happened to you last week? Tired out? Be careful not to roll off the chair...

Yes, its indeed a very exciting thing to await responses to our discussions. However, I also feel it’s a major deterrent to my responding to others’ discussions, which is what I love doing more. Hence, I rarely post my own discussions…I don’t get too much time to mylot and in that short span of time, I like to respond to as varied discussions as possible rather than replying back almost the same thing to all those who respond to my discussions.

It is also good thing to keep responding. For this site to work, both posters and responders are needed. All of us are limited by time, so do what you like to do.

Dear friend, That would be really exiting to know the result. Moreover I hope to get a better topic for discussion is another side. I do like to give good topics provided I rarely get it, may it required talent and brain too.

Hi shamrack, Maybe as we post more and more, we get to practice our writing and also mature our thinking so we will be able to post quality topics and comments. I am very hopeful of it.

This is one of the things that interested me about the internet the first time I got a computer. I love discussion forums. Getting feedback from a wide range of people, from different backgrounds is pretty neat. I used to spend a lot of time browsing, responding to, and creating topics of the forums I visited. Comments are always a welcomed occurrence. They confirm that you aren't invisible in an online environment, and that there are other people who share your interests. They may not agree with everything you have to say, but that's cool. you can't expect everyone to fall in line with your thought process. If that was the case, the world at large would be pretty uneventful.
• Singapore

That's the best about forums, you get to give your opinions which matter and there are actually people replying back to you, either giving you feedback, agreements or even disagreements. I don't mind which as long as I hear something. Having different schools of thought is what makes a site interesting, and being an international site, we get a lot of that. However, sometimes misunderstands could also happen because of the different cultural background and in this case, tolerance and understanding should be employed.

Of course I like to see responses to my discussions. If I see that I have gotten a response, then I will read it and respond immediately. I also go back and check on older discussions and follow-up on those as well. I like the interaction that we get on discussions when we are all on together. It not only is a lot more fun, in my opinion, but also it can take the discussion in a lot of different directions, so it provides more variety in the response boxes. Sometimes, if a discussion is not active, then many of the comments end up being similar. I have found that when more people are participating at the same time, though, then there is more spontaneity and more of a variety in the responses.

I will wait a day sometimes to respond just because of being busy with other things. I love when I have a lot of responses on one of my discussion, because I really do love to hear people's opinions and also love how helpful some people are. I also enjoy it because you know you have hit on a hot issue if you get a lot of responses and it sometimes gives me comfort to know I am not the only one feeling a certain way.

Why not? It is obvious that every friend on myLot will get excited when other friends response to our topics. myLot is a friendly online community that allows us to communicate with others by responding the discussions that are started by other friends. If one discussion receives as many as responses, then it means that others have interests in it or your discussion is really helpful to other friends. Of course, more responses mean more earnings here, which is also an amazing because we also need to earn some cash here!

17 Aug 10
BigTips, you said that "more responses mean more earnings here". You mean that the more responses that you make the more you will earn here, right? I get paid for what I type, and you get paid for what you type, so we only get paid for our own activity. If I have a discussion that receives fifty responses but I do not reply back to any of them, and you have a discussion that receives ten responses but you comment back to all of them, especially if you go back and respond to any further comments within all the response boxes, then you will earn much more than I will. We do not get paid for the responses that we receive on our discussions, but we do get paid if we comment back to the responses on our discussions.
• Singapore

You are absolutely right, my friend. Mylot is a good platform for us to engage in discussions and by creating topics, responding and posting comments, we are earning for ourselves as well as helping others to solve some problems or dilemma they might be having.

Yes, it's very exciting to see many responses on my discussion when coming back. I started a discussion and then went out to have a trip. I was so amazing after the trip because I logged in myLot and found there were near 50 responses under it. I was really happy at that time.

Yes, the more the responses, the happier I felt I once experienced about 70 responses and I tried to reply to everybody, it took me several days. Later when I went back to it after a few weeks I was horrified to see I have missed several pages of it in between because I started replying from the latest response. I feel sorry for "short-changing" those but since many weeks have passed, I have let it go.
