Unbelievable! despite of some of their problems there, they were still able to pull it off. not a referral link http://www.buzzle.com/articles/china-surpasses-japan-to-become-second-largest-economy.html Having one of the largest armies in the world.... I have noticed china's advancement since their first manned space exploration. and with regards to rocket launches, that takes millions of dollars, that's how i noticed china.there's no surprising that china has one of the best innovative and successful entrepreneurs since the ancient times. even here in the Philippines, Filipino-Chinese descendants have successful business, that's why they are prone into kidnap-for-ransom problems.most local business are run by chinese. Not to mention in some countries like US, and here too, there are CHINA TOWNS there are two feelings that i have now. first, I envy such achievement, but not surprised, with so many entrepreneurs there, it's no doubt exports will gain on their favors.they have some ancient tourist sites like the "great wall" (i wonder if they intend to finish it) Second, am afraid, China has been a bit ambitious lately, first they have been taking small territories lately. Most specially they have disputes against my country's "Little spratly islands" that I've read articles that they've built naval bases near the spratly. I don't know if how long they're going to be seconds most powerful economic country. but i hope they don't participate in WARS like the United States is doing.i hope they don't bully my country. What are your views....

Hello Melmabb, that won't happen for a long time unless most Filipinos would stop being too politically involved and be truely constantly selfless for once in a lifetime. If we did rise up, that should have been done already after the EDSA Revolution, but we didn't and look at us now. it will take a long time and it will be hard.

After the War,the Philippines was at par with the Japanese..Yes we would say its the Filipino, or we Filipinos are to be blamed, there's no one else ,everything is too much,If the Japanese or Chinese people can rise ,why can't we...Every sector of this society has a part why our country is behind, but we still have the CHANCE to move forward,by being involved not TOO MUCH on other things. LET US start the real change within our self first...then things will follow..If every Pnoys do that i think real changes and development will come...The Japanese did it,after the War,if you would review the HIstory Japan started as nothing...so as China now, several natural Major disasters and Manmade incidents devastated the country, but still the outcome of their Economy was enormous...Let's us be like a KITE...A KITE FLIES HIGH NOT BECAUSE THE WIND IS WITH HIM,BUT AGAINST HIM..THANKS.

Well China should thank the people around the world who are patronizing their cheap but low quality products. Would you believe that even in the US their products are gaining good patronage! Well if only the Philippines will patronize our own first before those cheap and low quality ones then we could be economically powerful as well.

I wouldn't say that all Chinese products are cheap and low quality! They have created a lot of technology that most people rely on in their everyday lives. They are also starting to manufacture cars and are supposed to be sending them to North America. And I wouldn't say North American cars have the greatest quality either. They are way overprised and made with cheap parts. I do agree, though, that SOME products are cheap and low quality ;). And I highly doubt that if they only sold low quality products, that they would be such a dominant economic power. It's too bad they don't have the greatest government policies and human rights, though :(

Letran- I'm never surprised when I read articles on China or Japan. They are both growing countries, that even if we dislike governmental policies truly have invested in their economy. I do not think that the US will ever be able to compete with them. Of course, I have a great deal of respect for both China and Japan, and love their culture so I may be biased. I don't keep track of who has what military base where to be honest. The US has bases almost everywhere that I feel it's just not something I need to be overly concerned with. I can only lead my own life. And I have no fear of becoming a part of another country though I doubt that will ever occur. However, if for some reason China, Japan, or even India (who is pulling to the top very quickly) takes over the US, I will simply adapt. Namaste-Anora

Hello Anora, Based on an interview from a former Secretary General, their military isn't really that big compare to US, but they sure has a large number of Troops there. well, in my side, i don't like US being under any other country, that's a twilight zone for me, hope that doesn't happens. for me, US is the Pioneer of Freedome and Democracy.

Letran- I'm not surprised that their military is small. I am sure they are having the same issues we have where military service is concerned. It's only the few... In terms of the US being the pioneer of Freedom & Democracy, we'll just have to disagree there. There are many other countries that enjoy freedoms beyond what we do, and have very stable economies. I've been giving serious thought to Norway, myself. Namaste-Anora

Hi there, I am not happy when I see this news. The country is stronger and stronger, but how abt the living of the normal people, how about the tax rate, how abt the consumption rate??? It is sad!!!!! it is rediculous!!! China is a poor country, many people's life is so bad!!!

Hello Jacksong, I believe this has happened because of you got a smart population there and not to mention a lot more entrepreneurs than any one else in the country. i guess i should do more research on the financial side of the country and knows it's bads and slums. i think not every one is rich in that country but i admire their entreprenurial commitment.

i think you are worry about too much... for china ,has a lot of problems although now surpasses japan as 2nd economically powerful nation... these several years ,china has suffered a lot of disasters such as heavy snow in southern areas ,flood in southern areas, earthquake in sichuan province,mud-rock flow in gansu province , china is busy dealing with these things ,i think they now do not regard war issue but if involving the country right , it is necessary to depute ,even start a war ,if these issues can be solved on the table ,china won't start a war .and also admit ,china won't be the first country to start a war i am from china ,i believe it

I guess many people will feel amazing when reading this big news because they think that Chinese has made a big difference through their hard work. Although China finally has gone past Japan to take 2nd place in the world economy, it doesn't mean that it is a big improvement for China because it has the biggest amount population around the world. Yes, even if Chinese can go past America someday, I think there are still many people in China can't improve their life to a higher level.

Hello Bigtips, I believe this has happened because of unstopping investments there. even fed ex that was stationed in the Philippines, transferred to China because of Low coast Manual labor, with so many people there i guess. well, with beyond one million people i think China also have quality population.

I don't think it's necessary for you to worry about war between our two countriesAs you see, in most situations, war is the last choice, especially more and more people realized the harm of war. As we stand on different side, our views are quite different, guiding by our medias and governments. Hence, I don't want to discuss politics here. You just remember that no matter which side would start war, it hurt people from both of sides. Hence, we don't like war, and I don't think our government is so stupid to start a war. Anyway, it's better for you to do some business than to worry about the future only. Good luck!

Hello Orangejuice, Well, my country is gonna get a beating if that happens, but Philippines is not an aggressive nation so, there's no reason for China to start a war with us. but i believed there are Filipino_chinese that would disagree with it if such thing ever happened. WAR hurts business and that's what happened to US now. i have the right to worry, but don't worry i have a business too.

hi letran I have read that too but if they are all this great powerful nation they had best look at the quality of candy, toys, and food stuff they have sent to the US that all turned out to be contaminated or posionus to use. thats not good customer service at all. I for one will not buy much stuff made in China as most is not good quality. I do not want to hurt any of my c hinese friends here but I have been on the receiving end of candy that came from China that contains some chemical that burned my mouth,.So they need to watch quality more carefully as I know they are great at ru nning business but its sad to sell things that can harm someone. I hope too Letran that they do not bully your country either.

Hello Hatley, it's very surprising that despite of criticism that they get for fake, poisonus or second rate products that are being aired in media for a while, they managed to pull it off. they have been into entrepreneurship long before even United States and Britain ever existed. it's one of the oldest countries in the world.

Hello Rikogei, Well, i hope you continue to be that way, it's scary knowing a powerful nation becomes a bit ambitious. well, they are all either based most from the Novel but i don't know exactly will be the attitude of the chinese in the future. i hope you don't end up like the United States.
