Scrap Metall!!

Who here makes money collecting scrap metal? Is it really a good way to earn money and how and where do you find the metal besides collecting what people put out at the curb? Do renovation sites just throw the scrap in a dumpster? Where are the good places to look for metal?

I only do this so I can put extra money in my daughters bank account. My dad works at a place that uses metal drums, so that is where most of the metal comes from. I know the price has gone back down again but not sure how much. I would say you could look on craigslist.com in your area in the free section, I know I see people around here that just want it gone. You might see if there are any local company that ships things in metal barrels and set up a pick up for that. Also alumium cans are good. I collect thoses from home as that is what we buy. 2 liters go flat before we drink them. Good luck hope you can find some and make some money. I know with a pickup full of barrels about 6 or so we were getting about $70 but it has been a while since we have taken any in. Also look for people with broken appliances our old washer got us about $20. You could even put an add on craigslist that you will come pick up scrap metal.
