I love Alaskan Malamutes. They're so pretty. Just recently I've seen malamutes here in the city, and I felt sorry for the dogs. Our climate is unforgivably hot and humid, and not fit for a malamute. Is it okay for hairy dogs to live in hot places?

These dogs are quite hardy and can tolerate very cold climates and are able to adapt to warmer ones.
I just hope that its owner makes sure to brush and comb out the coat thoroughly, to rid the dog of any undercoat, which will likely shed anyway.
I also hope they resist the temptation to shave the dog down, which would actually be counter productive and may actually cause the dog to get sunburned.
As long as the dog is kept well groomed, has plenty of shade and lots of fresh water available, it should be ok.

I have also seen dog pillows with cool water in them for comfort, which I think is a great idea, and cool concrete floors.

It's a comfort to hear that, thanks. In all fairness, I think they were taking good care of the dog because his coat looked well brushed and looked generally healthy. I do hope they keep the dogs hydrated, though. Thanks for your post!
