here i go again, speechless during times when i could have had a lot of sensible things to say had the subject been not me. been working for something/someone for about 5 or 6 months. was promised a salary lower than what should have been but it was okay with me. the thing is, i haven't received a single cent of what i was promised until this very minute. each payday would come and go and i would just watch others as they line up to the ATM. days would pass and the employer would have all the reasons for not processing the papers and for all the delay. until i realized, this has been going on for almost half a year. if i quit, all the more i can't claim my wages if i go on, i don't know how long will this go on. if you were in my shoes, what exactly would you do?

Don't you have some sort of advocate for workers there? Here (USA), each state has an office where you can go to make complaints against employers who won't pay or who break laws like not allowing breaks during a long day. If it were me, I'd be looking for another job. Why keep working there if you're not being paid? After a half a year, you may not ever get paid anyway. Why lose more? I would not stay and I would tell everyone why.

OMG how could you just go on like this for six months??? You should have realized the trick long ago… I mean you are really paying for your shortsightedness…there’s nothing you can do really, you either quit and forfeit your salary or continue like this in the hope (bleak) that you might actually get paid some day. However, how is the office set-up? Is it a small place with very few employees? If so, you might just take over some friends and rough up the bast*ard and little, I mean try and scare him into paying you something at least. Or if you have any employment papers with you, you can contact the labour department in your city or if the media in your area is strong and supporting of the common people, you can approach them to expose the fraud.

i really had to leave my old job because of a major operation that took place in december. I needed to find a job that does not require much physical stress. so when the offer cam, and it was like mostly, computer and web works (web design and all), i grabbed it right away. well, you're right, i was shortsighted...

I am sorry for your situation. It seems like there was not contract in place when you accepted this job. However if you do the job you need to get paid. I am not sure where you are but everywhere should have laws to protect you. I suggest report this boss. He need to pay you. You will get what is yours and probably more. I just cannot understand how he choose to pay some and not others. Good Luck.

I haven't been in exactly your situation, but I've had something similar. He'll keep saying he's "working it out" until you quit. He's not doing a darn thing except keeping you on a string. He probably already has your replacement lined up, so he never has to pay you. Do you work on accounts, so if you were to up and leave it would really put them in a bind? That could give you leverage. But if it's just daily stuff, I can't see any leverage to use. You definitely need leverage. This "friend" isn't going to pay you. He's a user. He's probably putting your paycheck in his pocket.

i have thought of leaving without any notice (lol) and take all pertinent documents with me (or delete all files in the pc). i handle all documents from personnel to finance to equipments. but i guess i'll just wait for a little more while.

OMG thats awful. nrab what have you been doing all these months? Cant you see it is plain exploitation. Maybe this is what you would want me to tell you but I can understand that there are many situations which are not in our control and we are forced to take upon such offers. Your case is saddening though coz its been already about 5 to 6 months and you havent been paid. I think you should talk to the seniors directly on this point. There is nothing much that can be done. I would not suggest you to leave the job coz, it would deprive you of all the earnings. You can talk this out with the Bosses of the organization, If they have given you any letter of Appointment or Any Terms and Conditions (offer letter) it would be worth showing and discussing with a lawyer/solicitor.

i was kind of thinking like that too, for the first month or two and then suddenly it went on for this long.
