Working under pressure, how do you keep yourself cool?

At work, if you really knew me you can easily say that I am under pressure and am feeling tired. If my friends heard that I am singing, they will say that "there you go again... take a break you're tired now." I am not that good in singing but I love to sing. It relieves my stress and keeps me cool. It's good that I have worked in a production line where singing is not prohibited. But it came to a point when stress overcomes me because my work was full of pressures, I resigned... haha ^_^ my friends miss my voice. LOL!

I usually take a walk, but if you are working that really is not recommended. That is why I work at home. I can just walk away from the computer. Oh and keep up with the singing even if you did leave that job. I bet everyone who hears you enjoys it.

Home is much better to work with. You do not have the worries. i love the idea of you singing. I know how hard it is to have children fall asleep. I used to pretend to go to sleep and snore so that my sons would go to sleep. Now I snore for real and it is no pretend.

Thanks for the comment. I am now working at home since I resigned last Mar 2009. It is good to have found a home-based work though a lot smaller than my previous compensation, but of course more convenient for me. Still singing while cuddling my son and trying him to fall asleep.

To avoid pressure at work, you must start the day. In fact, most people mange pressure at work. The juggling of their housework, pop in for breakfast and then the traffic jam to go to work on time. To be sure to start your day, you need to plan things accordingly. Start the day on a positive note.

I too get annoyed and frustrated while working and want to vent my anger. I put the phone on mute and vent my frustration in a language which others dont understand much. Then I resume the sweet and pleasant voice and put on a smile on my face and resume the call. It is good that in India there are so many languages that all will not be able to understand all the spoken languages. I grew up in North India and now am staying in South India so i have an advantage that all will not know the language I speak. My co-worker who sits next to me understands my frustration from the tone of my voice and will just laugh and make me also laugh. In this way the stress is reduced. I am very lucky to have a real good working place.

From what you have said above, I guess singing may be a helpful method to let you keep cool. In order to make a living and support our family, we have to work hard and give up our spare time for fun. As a result, we are usually working under big pressure, especially when we have lost interests in our job. In fact, I am also a mamber of facing such a problem. Everytime when I meet this situation again, then I tend to play a simple but interesting poker game to relax myself, which is usefull in most cases.

Hello BigTips, Talking about pressure, I teach middle school mathematics. I love teaching. However, I teach 150 students 5 days a week. My pressure is keeping them safe in my classroom. Whether it is a student who is leaning back in a chair, or a bully making fun of another student in my classroom, I do not tolerate it. Then add your co-workers. Therefore, I go to bed early, perform yoga stretches in the morning, and pray. It all works out at the end of the day. :)

first I will try to walk around for a while... drink a few glass of cold water and then sit down and do silent prayer.

well, i turn the radio on while completing or updating all the documents. i had better be away from nonsensical people though because they will taste my worst temper when they tend to be unimaginable, senseless, insensitive, etc. but most of the time, i practice calmness. he he

In my opinion, under pressure for long time, the character will be polished slowly, the cool we have at the beginning may be disappeared at last, and maybe I am no exception.

If I'm working under pressure, I stop whenever I'm getting full of it. I take a break, forgetting all about it for several minutes, then I get back to it. Whenever there's stress, you just need to have a break and relax for a moment, maybe go to the canteen and eat something or go the restroom and stay for several minutes. I also overcome my stress for the day by exercising, it feels that I'm sweating off my stress away. If it's a stress accumulated over the week, I see to it that I either have a drinking session with friends or have somewhere to go to during Saturday nights.

I am just being systematic whenever I encounter pressure from work. I try to prioritize things first if lots of tasks are being sent at the same time. Yes that is true that we should always keep our cool whenever we are put into these kind of situation. I always not put myself being stressed out with these pressure they set for me. I always put enthusiasm with my work so that my bosses will see that I am not affected by the pressure they give me. I always try to be Efficient most of the times so I am making things done very fast and I will now see that I almost done with all of my task then I always give myself a break, then go back to working on those task again until I am all finished. I am pretty sure that you have resigned not only because of the pressure that you were experiencing. Pressure is always a part of work.

Well what i do is just ignore the pressure but part of me still remembers what i have to do. How i relieve stress is talking to people that i don't even know and hey it works. ALOT. Maybe if you try that or maybe you have tell me how that works (^_^)

Unfortunately there is absolutely no type of work that we can do without any form of pressure, it is part of earning, as earning will never come for free. My suggestion is that we research all involved duties prior to taking on any form of job so that we know ahead of time if it is suited or not. However there are times when a job does not disclose all the strees involved so my suggestion is to work strictly at your own pace and well if this is not acceptable to any employer I would suggest as you did and move on, as our health is far more important than let say a heart attack and or nervous break down as if this does happen well the job will just get another person to fill our position and you will no longer be remembered even for your singing. What I basically do when I am under pressure I think deep down that I am doing my best and I certainly cannot ask for more.
