But this time it's a good thing. My dad is in the hospital. This morning he blacked out again and fell in the bathroom. He must've hit the tub because he cut his head open and had to get a couple of stitches. This doctor admitted him in the hospital to find the cause of his blacking out. His regular doctor is on vacation till Monday. He said he doesn't remember anything till mom came to see what the commotion was and heard her ask, "What are you doing on the floor?" Mom said there was blood everywhere because the head bleeds so freely and dad being on coumadin (blood thinner) because of his heart condition. So since dad is in the hospital, I'm going to stay with my mom for a few days to make sure she's ok. I think I'm going to check into "Life Alert" the thing that goes around the necks of the elderly, like a necklace and if something were to happen, they can just push the button and help will come. Does anybody have that? If so, how much does it cost a month? Does medicare cover any of it? Anyway, hopefully they'll take him off of the coumadin so they can fix his thumb. Why not? He's already there?! Yesterday we had to take one of our cats to the vet because he injured his leg and had to be sedated so the vet could lance the wound. He's on antibiotics so he should be feeling better soon. Thank God we didn't leave him over night like the vet wanted us to! I'd be spinning like a top right now with that and dad being in the hospital. **sigh**

Yikes, Cats, so much going on for you all the time! It’s a wander you have any time to yourself at all! Sorry about your dad, at least he will be taken care of in the hospital and sort his problems out. Your poor wounded cat sounds like he will be alright too although he will probably look for extra cuddles! I can’t help you with the personal alarm system from Australia but it looks like someone else has posted a link for you. It sounds like a very good idea for any elderly person who has any health concerns. All the best...

Hi Paula! My dad came home yesterday although he felt awful but today he's feeling better. He said he got a good nights rest which is what mom and I thought all along that he needed. When in the hospital, as you know, people don't get much rest there because of being woken up for this and that. Anyway, dad had the surgery on his thumb so that's done and over with however, the tests that they did on Friday won't be in till tomorrow so we don't know yet what's wrong or causing him to cough so much. Oreo sent me a link on life alert and I don't think I'll go that route after all but I don't know anything else but hope to find something. We had another close call.... mom & dads renter has 4 sweet cats, one mom loves so much, Black Beauty, she got in moms car when I was unloading my things and we didn't know it and was there all night and most of the day! Hubby came up to bring a few things and took a bag out to mom's car and he heard a meow and found her under the seat and under a plastic bag limp and soak and wet. He grabbed her and flew in the house screaming. I got a hand towel wet it with cold water and put it on her hoping to cool her down in a hurry but not too fast. I got some water in her through a syringe. By the time we left for the hospital, she was doing better. Mom gave her some can food and she ate very slowly thank heavens. Thank God she survived!!!! She didn't have much longer when hubby found her. As for my cross stitch, I'm finished with the stitching and am now working on the back stitching which is basically the outlining of everything in the picture. I should be finished in the next two or three days if nothing else grabs my attention. As for my cat, he's doing much much better now. He's walking on all fours once again! YEAH! lol

oh dear, I'm sorry your dad is in the hospital my mom's place, those living on their own have those kind of buttons, but just for in their rooms I haven't heard of anyone actually using one, tho my mom and a friend both could've IF they had been wearing them A friend of the roomie's was talked into getting one and was very grateful to have been talked into it because a few weeks later she fell and the firemen came and rescued her.

Hey Cat, sorry to hear about your dad falling & hurting himself. Hope they can find out what is causing him to black out. I have known p[eople that wore the life alerts but have no idea what they cost.It would probably be a good idea if they both had them. It's sweet of u to go stay w/your mom. Maybe they will fix his thumb while he's there. I'm like u looks like that would be a perfect time. Hope he gets better soon & gets back home. I'd rather be home than anywhere bet he's the same way. Good luck, Cat.

Oh dear, when things like this happen, we begin to think it's the end of the world, but they are just temporary tests in life. I've had similar challenges and I guess everybody here also experience the lowdowns in life.

I wish it were a temporary thing but this has been going on for years now. If it's not my mom it's my dad, and if it's not my dad, it's my mom. Both are getting up in age and both have lots of health problems so it's a constant battle. I'm the only family member nearby so it all falls on mine and my husbands shoulders. It's a bit much to bear but we're doing it.

hi!!! Jesus Christ is good all the time!!! He is our redeemer, our helper, our shelter, our comforter, our savior. He is our strength, our knowledge, and provider. Most of all He is the Great Healer: the Great Doctor in this world. My advice to you is that, Pray to Jesus that in every situation and condition your undergo, 'Jesus will care for him'. Don't loose hope because Jesus is in Charge. By the wounds and stripes of Jesus Christ, We are Healed. Just pray to God, Ask the Healing coming from the Holy Spirit and God will give it the Healing you are asking for. Just believe!!! and You will SEE!!! Just have faith. God Bless You!!!

I'm sitting on my parents front porch catching a breather moment I'm so tired ams feel like I've been put through the mill again. WHEW! Mom told me that dad stopped taking the blood thinner yesterday so his surgery won't happen till Saturday at the soonest however, they're running tests to find the cause of his blackouts. Thank you for your prayers! I'm doing the same for you!
