The reason why gun grabbers can't succeed

Governments can pass all the victim disarmament laws they want, but they'll never disarm people who really want to be armed. Human beings have intelligence and a gun is basically a very simple piece of technology, as illustrated by this YouTube video:

Fairly crude but obviously workable. Not a project I'd want to try at home myself (never mind the legalities, I'd be scared of accidents) but it proves a point.

Sadly if people don't wake up really soon and start paying attention our right to bare arms may just be taken away from us sooner than we think!
Many were not paying attention when the Patriot Act was passed into law and that stripped away some of our constituional rights as it is. The Act dramatically reduced restrictions on law enforcement agencies' ability to search telephone, e-mail communications, medical, financial, and other records; eased restrictions on foreign intelligence gathering within the United States; expanded the Secretary of the Treasury’s authority to regulate financial transactions, particularly those involving foreign individuals and entities; and broadened the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities in detaining and deporting immigrants suspected of terrorism-related acts. The act also expanded the definition of terrorism to include domestic terrorism, thus enlarging the number of activities to which the USA PATRIOT Act’s expanded law enforcement powers could be applied.
It really is a scary subject to discuss but I'm glad you touched on it.

I've heard of that "Patriot" Act you've got over there, it does sound pretty draconian. It seems to be a universal rule that governments will use any excuse to increase their powers. We've had some "anti-terrorist" laws passed in Britain which have been abused in various ways - even to the extent that local councils have used surveillance powers granted to them to check if parents are using subterfuge to get their kids into their preferred schools!
