We don't have much excitement in out little cul de sac but we are going to have a wedding next month. I'm excited. The couple who live next door to me & have been together for 17 years are going to get married. i'm so glad. they are a good sweet couple & have been very good to me. In fact she brought me my supper tonight. He is the one i ask for prayers for he has just found out a few weeks ago he has stage 3 cancer. They had talked about marriage a long time ago but he's really pushing for it now & i think it's best for her to do this to. He has a really bad son that they don't allow on their premises so i think if something does happen to him it will be better for her to be his wife. The son would give her all the trouble he could, he's sooooo bad. Don't y'all think it's best they get married?

Well, I think that is a great idea. It is strange for people to get married after being together for so long, but if it is going to bring some joy to their lives, then that is awesome!

If it will protect her, and if it will ensure that his wishes are taken care of, yep, I do think it's best.

That was so nice of her to bring you supper. I could send you some deep fried chicken that I made the other day! Probley wouldn't be good by the time it got there!!! That is great news about the upcoming wedding. Do you get to be bridesmaid? They may want to check with an attorney to be sure to have everything taken care of the way he wants. Especially with a son like this. There are some new laws out there now and she could still end up with nothing. Maybe they could find an attorney that would do a free consultation. Congratulations and best of luck to the newly weds!

The way they have changed laws and the loop holes that they can find is just unreal. Even if they had to pay an attorney it would be the best for them in the end. I love chicken too! When we went to my inlaws in Tennessee I did all the cooking while we were there. My mother in law loved it but I was never allowed to wash the dishes!!! Sure can get spoiled that way!!!!

She has done a wonderful job raising him. what town in Tennessee do your inlaws live? my mil didn't like to wash dishes. we'd go down there & her litchen would look like a tornado had hit it. I always cleaned it up for her & accused her of waiting for me to come, lol.

That is exactly why she needs that piece of paper. He should have already done right by her a long time ago. He knows how his son is & she has been raising 'his' grandson, the bad boy's son. Thanks for responding.

I think that it would be better for them to be married. Not just for the sake of the wife but also because I think that people should get to do what they want before they go. I think it will add to both of their comfort and I think it will be a very happy occasion and memory for them.

I think it is great that they are getting married. If they have been together for 17 years, they are practically married anyways. It is ashame that they are getting married under these circumstances. If it is hard enough to deal with cancer, it is terrible that he has a son that would do such hateful things. I will keep their family in my prayers.

Good morning, your ride sounds good to me. I have never been to bell buckle but of course have heard it. If it's got antique shops i'd like it. Sorry u had to waste last sat. at wal-mart but thank heavens u didn't have a blowout in busy traffic. Hope all your adventures turn out good. Take care.

Thanks Jo! I hope you have a super weekend as well. I am ready for a nice car ride in the country. I am going to try to talk the hubby into taking me to Bell Buckle...ever been? It is a cute little town with a lot of antique stores. Last week we drove up to Seiverville and our tire blew (thank goodness AFTER we got off the expressway). We put on the spare time, and that had dry rot...what are the chances of that happening??? Anyways, we spent most of Sunday at the wal-mart in Pigeon Forge getting a new tire. We were lucky that the Wal-Mart had a tire changing place, otherwise on a Sunday, we would have been in trouble!! Oh well, this weekend will be another adventure ;-)

Yes, definitely. It's not like they just started dating. I seriously doubt they would get divorced even if he was cured. But with him being sick and having such a troublesome son, it's best that she have legal ties to him. I hope he gets better and they have many more good years together.

Yes in a way it would be better for her to be his wife however, I do have an awful story to tell you however, I don't know how it all unfolded though but I do know how it ended. When my grandparents were alive, they had this neighbor across the street and they had a bunch of trailers on their land that they rented out. The man was married before and had a son. The man and his son didn't get along and weren't on speaking terms. As the years went by, the man got sick and passed away suddenly. The grieving wife didn't call her step son right away but waited a few months after the fact. Now this was in the state of Virginia, a commonwealth state. The woman's step son took her to court for his portion of the estate and the courts made her sell the house and trailers so that the step son could have his part. Now this woman had been married to this man for many many years!! And the step son and his father weren't speaking to each other yet the courts gave the low life his portion? I mean, what the hell?! I didn't think it could be done but it was so I don't know about Tennessee so it would be wise for your next door neighbor to check into.

Thanks for your response & sharing the story. I just want her to be taken care in case something does happen to him. She is raising his grandson & she absolutely loves that boy like her own. The sorry son does not help her at all w/his child or any of the other children he has. He's gone north & i hope he stays up there. He called her the other day wanting money & didn't even ask how his dad was. He is just rotten to the core. I don't usually feel that way about people but it's just the truth.

This is a lovely post and I can understand how delighted you are that they are getting married. Is it their son or his son from a previous relationship? In any case they should make it legal to prevent trouble down the road. I really hope that he gets better or at least his life is prolonged for some years. May God bless them both as they sound like they really love each over. Many blessings

Thanks for your sweet response, Cynthi. The son is from his first marriage. U just wouldn't believe how bad he is. He's got 5 kids & has never been married & doesn't look after any of them. I'm so glad they are going to get everything legal so he can't give her any trouble if something does happen. He would to if he could. Hope u have a great weekend. hugs.

Yes, you are right, better for them to get married. The wedding will surely be an event to remember. I wish them all the best and also praying for the recovery of that man. Stage 3 cancer is still curable. I hope he will try alternative medicine. Now for that bad son, I hope he will someday soon have a change of heart otherwise he deserved to be kept them out of their life forever.

Wedding is a gift from God. Therefore we should have some assurance that doing a wedding ceremony is true to ourself and heart. WEdding is not just like a hot rice that when your tongue felt heat, you will spill it.
