Why Irfan Pathan is not in the Indian team?

Most of us have the same question in our mind, as far as I remember he was the only bowler (after Kapil and Kumble) who was capable of taking wickets whenever he was given the ball and all of us enjoyed his balling (and batting as well). No idea, what exactly happened with Greg Chappel but somehow, Irfan lost his form and had to be out of the team because of lack of performance. Now if you see his performance at domestic level and in IPL, it was quite good, atleast better than other Indian players (E.g. Yuvraj, Ishant, Kohli etc). Most often if you see comment from Indian team management, they will say, his bowling is not that good and at the same time he can bat (Whereas, we know that even if he is out of form he is better than Ishant Sharma and his batting is much more better than Kohli and Rohit Sharma) that is why he will not be included in the team. What a logic??? I am a fan of Dhoni but in this case, I really dont understand why he prefers Jadeja over Irfan? Do you think that India has got any better all rounder than Irfan Pathan? Do you think that Irfan Pathan would have gained his rythem if he would have got chances like Ishant and Jadeja?

I am also agree with your opinion. Irfan Pathan should have been given chance to make a successful comeback in Indian Cricket Team. At one ti,e he was darling of Indian Cricket Team and selectors and now he is nowhere. It is surely reason other than merit/performance. But what is the reason, I cant understand?

There are so many things, there were rumors that he had some issues with Dhoni and at the same time his performance was not upto his own level but despite of all these factors, he is much more better bowler than those who have been selected in this Indian pace attack (apart from Zaheer Khan). I hate to say, this politics is killing our interest to watch cricket, that's the reason, I am not watching WC this year, if they had to select Sreesanth for such kind of performance, then they should have selected me....I am also a good bowler () if compared to such pathetic performance.

You know what Samir, this is common sense and general people like you and me understand it but I don't know what is wrong with the Indian cricket management that everyone is ignoring Irfan Pathan, it's not good for country but what to do, corruption is everywhere and it is visible in his case.

Every time I see Irfan playing, even if he is out of form. I like him a lot, he is having a lot of energy. At present even India is 2nd team in B group of world cup. But their bowling is looking poor. Nobody except Zaheer is doing well in bowling. Irfan Pathan must have been selected.

unfortunately indian team miss irfan for austr tour, but irfan will include in 11 for upcoming matches due to his performance & consistency in last season & his experience in international level. if mithun & praveen fail to perform in australia tour, indian selectors will`t be option than irfan. he is "all rounder" is the plus point for india. -somnath waghmode pune

Hi Somnath, He's got talent it's known to everyone in this world except the dumb selectors. Even after being selected for the Indian ODI team, he didn't get a chance to play the last match. Let's hope that he'll get at least one chance in this series. Thanks for your response, Somnath.

The problem with Irfan is the fact that he has lost his swing. For a swing bowler that is like loosing his bowling arm. I think till he gets back his swing, he will not make it to the Indian team and even if he makes it, he will not be able to retain his spot. I think his is an example of listening to too many people and loosing what he actually does very well. I just hope that he can get his swing back before the world cup. Cheers! Ram

Hi Ram, Sorry for being so late, even I was hoping him to be selected in WC squad but it hasn't happened. Let's hope that we don't pay the price of excluding him by losing the world cup. Our bowling performance was waste in the first match, I had never thought that B'desh will chase till 280+ in that match, thanks to sreesanth for his BS bowling. Even if Irfan starts bowling with his right hand, I am sure he will bowl better than Sreesanth and even if he does not bowl, at least, he won't spoil our country's name by sledging others (without any reason).

The selectors are avoiding him. He is a good all rounder. He should be tested in a situation like this ,where we need a good fast bowler. But the selectors will not choose him,I am sure.

yes definitely Pattan is a very good player.... i think this is because of some problem between Irfan and the selectors..... they can give him one more chance... because he is the one of the best all rounder in Indian criket history after Khabil dev. .. so he has to be treated
