Does skin tone matter?

In India, skin whitening products are hot. As a matter of fact, it is an industry is worth at least £100m in India. I know in The United States tanning is a big industry. Funny how a difference in geography can change things. Do you have a preference? I am light in skin color, but I do not believe that your skin color has any bearing on the type of person you are or your attractiveness or lack of. What is your opinion?

For me, personally. I just want a fair skin. My skin tone is not the same as the one from the other parts. So I rally wanted to be fair. Here in the Philippines, some people think highly on people with lighter skin. So they tend to buy whitening products. I do buy whitening soap, but just that. So my skin will be fair.

Well I don't go out that much lately, so I wasn't under the sun for a long time. So I think that contributes to my lighter skin right now. The soap on the other hand, takes me months, but not the fair skin that I wanted.

Maybe for other people it matters most. As if having white or fairer skin is having power. I am fair in color too but never had in mind that skin color matters for achieving respect, attraction or whatever other people think. I find people attractive from the way they can handle themselves, the moment they speak and their attitude. Happy weekend

I am attracted to medium skin tones or even a little bit tanner. I know in Mexico looking light is better than having a darker skin tone. I think it's ridiculous because we are all attracted to different people. I saw a white male the other day with a dark african american woman. They look cute together.

.i can say that people are very much influenced by the proliferation of mass media..that is why in s0me countries whitening products are hot!..and in s0me pLaces..tanning is in!mayBe its because we usually want those qualities that we dont have within ourseLf..within our own appearance..when we see other people we tend to think that we should have their coLor or s0mething..its already a human nature..as for me..i dont really care if i d0 have a fair or dark skin..as l0ng as i dont have unequal cOlor (e.g. such us hidden skin) and as long as my skin is sm00th and cLear..by the way..im "morena"..that's the perfect skin coLor for us fiLipina!tnx!

For Asians, being fair skin is considered beautiful. So any products that contains whitening substance sells like hot cakes here. I am neither fair nor tan but am neutral. I don't need the whitening effect to look beautiful as everyone has their unique beauty. It is not the skin tone that decide the beauty of a person.

I have skin as white as snow and of course I hate it. I have my own tanning bed. I cant understand how some want to lighten their skin but they they probably dont understand why I want to get a tan!! The color of your skin doesnt bother me at all.....its MY skin that Im bothered about lol.

I am Filipino, my skin color is a bit lighter than ordinary filipino. Skin is the largest organ in our body. So it is absolutely obvious that people look at our physical looks it seems that our skin cover all of it. However, we have different taste or opinion when it comes to color (skin). USA attract with Filipino color, Filipino attract with European and other Asian color like Korean and Chinese and Japanese. I do believe whatever color you have, you must accept it. person will be attractive if he/she feels that he/she is attractive. Show what you have, be proud of your color. Being different is beautiful. Loving your own color mean self confidence.

Color and character are two separate entities. They have little to do with each other as a matter of course. The "ideal type" in societies varies. In America tanned skin is valued as "healthy", but not sitting in the actual sun. And we know tanning beds are dangerous. Many here promote the tan look as well for being aesthetically pleasing and making one look thinner. Go figure. Others prize fair skinned maidens, as in medieval times. Isn't true beauty lots more than "skin-deep?

In my country Jamaica the practice of extreme skinlightening is called bleaching. The government has recently put a ban on all of the skin lightening products. Because it is felt that the women are hurting themselves. I am just surprise to know that this practice also occurs in India, i know about africa, but not India. wow.
