Push and Pull!

I had this incident many times and i have also seen many people do the same so i wanted to share with you. I have been to many malls and have enjoyed all of them. Whenever i enter a shopping mall or maybe just a small shop. And as you all know many of them have a door which say push.. And many people try to pull the door instead of doing what is being told. And if its pull then they try and push. I mean there are many such scenes where something else is done when something is told to be done. Have you done that any time? I know it sounds silly but it happens all the time...

Happens all the time, especially if people are in a hurry. I'm not sure but someone told me that doors ideally should be pushed open from the inside so that in cases of emergency, people can easily get out. However, some shops have different doors so people who've gotten used to pushing them open from the inside tend to do so for doors meant to be pulled from the inside.

s... i t happens ... its a matter of creativity!! suppose if we do what they tell then we just learn one thing!!! but it if we try to do the thing which is said not to be done then we get to know two things those are what happens if we do so... and why does it happens!!!! its just depends on nature of the person !!!!

Well yes I have also seen people doing such funny stuffs. But most of them are English ignorant, thats why they dont get whether to push or pull the door. Thank God I haven't done such a silly thing ever cause I know it creates a weird scene around. ;)

yeah i had this done, most responsible is because of our unconscious minds, and our daily routine that we had with, we usually have doors at home that get inside our home, but some shops that their that push pull door getting outside, so when we open them, we try to open with our null thinking and instead of pushing we pull the door and vise versa

hi raviteja, i know exactly what you mean when I see people struggling at the doors, especially the very heavy ones. I realised that we have to follow the instructions of "Pull" or "Push" coz it really helps with the ease of how the door opens!

yes, I have seen it too. Well I guess they do that unaware that they are actually doing that. They maybe preoccupied on thinking what to buy or see at that store that they didn't actually look on the door signs and just pay attention to it when they already have the hard time opening it. There are also some instances when I see people who bump their heads on a closed glass door because they go towards it instead of the opened ones...=)

:). I noticed that, too. :) In my opinion, this has happened because people tend to confuse the use of pull and push especially in a non speaking english country. Moreover, it is easier to push (moving the object away from your body) than pull (drawing it towards you) . this is especially true when the door is just too heavy to pull. I do this sometime, when pulling doesn't work and there's no one right behind me or about to use the same door I'm doing pushing even if it tells pulling.:)

This happens to me so much.. It's pretty embarrassing. At Walmart they have a greeter at the door who stands there with a big smile and talks to you, tells you to have a nice day, etc.. I have done worse than trying to push a door that says pull.. but they have automatic doors there and I always go to the wrong one, so I have walked right into the door and that greeter always has to remind me which door to go to.. EMBARRASSING!

I have seen that situation happening so many times, especially in my last workplace. I was working in a cafe whereby there's two entrance/exit customer can come and go. This partiular side door is often misused for pulling and pushing depending on which side they are on. However, I guess majority of them either don't understand English or they simply don't bother, thus spoiling the door!! In the end, we decide to lock one side of it while putting up a very big note on the glass panel of the door, stating PUSH on one side while PULL on the other side!
