I've been hearing this from people as of recently. I can't really say since I don't watch tv that much if it includes stuff with commercials. I mean why should I waste that portion of my life seeing the same things over and over, lol. Can you say for certain the commercials have gotten longer. I don't mean to offend anybody who watch commercials. Its just I think in the long run seeing the same things over and over takes a big chunk out of my life when I could of made it more useful.

Hi elmiko, YES! Commercials have gotten to be very long, they are now called infomercials. Not only are they longer they are really really LOUD!. The movie that you are watch is at a pleasant volume, but as soon as the commercial comes on, you almost jump out of your seat because the volume automatically went through the roof, so you go rambling for the remote control to turn the volume down. Because of these two factors, longer and louder, I hardly ever watch regular television shows anymore. If I do watch a show and a commercial come on, I immediately switch to a non-commercial channel. I have noticed that most of the regular channels seem to have synchronized the infomercial times. If you flip from one channel trying to get away from their commercial you will find the next channel starting or are in the middle of their commercial. So, I decided to not waste much of my time watching regular television.

Hi elmiko, I have made it my mission to not support the commericials. When they play I leave channed. I often don't have to worry about them, because I tune in to commericial free channels.

I would not say that they have gotten longer, but they have gotten louder! The commercials are always louder than the TV shows.

Yes most commercials have gone too long. But that is very costly to the sponsors while boring and quite annoying on the part of viewers if seen over and over again. But I noticed that long commercials after sometime are later cut to run shorter by the sponsors themselves. Well this is because it is airtime is very costly.

Well commercials for me always feel long and I just don't like it because I just wanted it to get back to my show because even though some commercials are funny I still don't really like to watch them so I don't like it when it takes forever to get back to the show because I am not a very patient person.

I don't think its true because I haven't noticed the difference. I hate commercials and usually change the channel when a commercial comes on, unless it catches my interest. =]]

I don't know about the actual length of the commercials themselves, but there seem to be more of them, and they come more often.

I don't watch much TV either but when I do I haven't really noticed that the commercials are any longer. I usually don't pay that much attention to them or start flipping channels or get up to get something etc. I do notice that the commercials seem to play at the same time on most of the stations. Mostly I watched the premium channels with no commercials.

I think commercials have gotten longer, I think the commercial breaks last about 10 to 12 mins. so an hour show isn't really an hour, actually its only about 30 mins long but with the long commercial time, it seems like its a whole hour. I have a DVR, so I can record my favorite shows then when I watch them, I can forward through the commercials and I don't have to watch them.

I do think that in some cases it is true. In some cases, I do think that they have gotten longer. It is somewhat annoying at times, I find. Things seemed to have changed quite a bit.

people might be willing to pay attention more if their was just one commercial in between breaks of shows or movies.

Only the national ones seem longer, the local ones are much shorter but they cram more into each break. I sure am sick of them.

I always watch local program so I am more in local network. I agree that commercials are really taking longer. So what I would do is do my stuff while I am waiting for the program and sometimes I am done watching plates and cleaning the table and the program is not still on. I am sometimes getting irritated and annoyed and end up turning off the tv.

I will agree with the fact that commericals are everywhere. I don't know if they are longer persay. Most commericals are about 25-30 seconds long, while commericials for prescription medication...well we know how long those ones can be! Seems like those commericals drag on forever. I think the commericals themselves haven't really increased, I just feel that the quanity has increased. Your average commerical break is probably an average of 3 minutes or so. Yet, some channels seem to have almost 5 minute commerical breaks, and maybe 10-15 minutes of air time. The balance isn't to appealing. It's great when you can DVR a show and just zip through them as one member mentioned. But, at the same time it makes you realize how much longer the commerical break is. Advetising in general is up everywhere. It's amusing when the commericals are also extra loud to get your attention and your whatever you were actually watching is so much more quiet.
