I think color is one of the most important part of marriage. I show in western countries white is the color of bride but here in Indian subcontinent red, maroon, blue, pink are mostly used as they express joy, happiness, celebrations. But is it really important to dress in particular color in marriage? Does it affect the occasion?

well here they say if the brides in white it means shes virtuos. some even believe it signifies being virgin. but i dont believe even 99 out of a hundred is virgin. its just tradition. i got married once in blue and that was supposed to mean a true loving relationship. well that didnt work. one friend got married in black dress and of course it went wrong from day one. my best marriege, out of 5 was when i married in an off white dress. 2 in pink dresses and one marriage in purple outfit. i think red would be fun and hot

wow....so you tried a lot of colors... I'm not married but in my culture we have different celebration before and after marriage where we use different color as symbol. Like in marriage we wear either red, or reddish colors like, maroon, magenta, hot pink etc. But before marriage we have another occasion called 'gaya holud'...it's kinda a bridal shower. this day we wear, yellow, orange and red combination dress. After marriage there is reception where we wear, blue, white, or golden. So color is very important in our marriage. I'm taking about Indian and Bangladeshi marriage. We wear Saree and they are extremely decorative, gorgeous, heavy, and colorful. Likewise we use very colorful makeup. I hope you saw some pictures of Indian or Bangladeshi marriage.

It depends on the caste and the rituals. Among Christians in india the bride still wears white for nuptials in the church and then changes to red in the reception.

I think nothing matches the colour red or maroon for a bride's dress on the day of marriage. It is one of the most special days in her life and the dress should be such that she should not forget the outfit for her entire life.
