Flood? What Flood? Bring it on!

it's raining heavily in the Philippines again and as usual floods are not uncommon
our drainage system isn't all that great and floods can stay for a couple of hours before subsiding
I was in my volks stuck in traffic while all the other modern cars in front of me where hesitating to ford the mini river in Espana Boulevard
Espana is notorious for flooding
the only ones brave enough to cross it were the jeepneys and suvs and pickups
i remembered back when i was younger when my dad crossed a stream about as deep as the one in front of me and i knew my bug could take it
so i grit my teeth and told myself i'd kick myself in the head if i get stuck in the floodwater
i revved my engine and dove right into the flood water spraying it at all sides
the trick when crossing a flood is to keep revving your engine until you clear it so that water does not enter your tail pipe and drown your engine (oh and you have to make sure that your air intake is situated high up above your engine so that it does not suck in water
it seemed like an eternity crossing that 3 blocks with my engine on second gear but i finally cleared it and looked back to see all the souped up hondas and other mini cars still stuck way behind me
this volks may be ugly but it'll get the job done
hah! and good thing i didn't listen to all the other people who kept telling me to lower my beetle to the ground. my ground clearance is about 6 inches so what may seem ugly to others is in fact very functional for me
boop boop be doo wah
hope you learned something or maybe you have a better technique

hi chipsterkhan I love those so called ugly little bugs. here most people are told do not cross those flooded areas take a different street. but
sadly we have not had any rain let alone any flooding
in months and our forests are tinder dry just waiting for some moron or a lightening strike to set off a wild fire that ultimately will burn thousands of acres, destroy many homes, and ruin many lives. fall is the worst here in Southern California as almost every year the wild fires rage
and cost so much in destriction, lives and p ropery damages.

in the philippines you learn to hate a lot of rain
just a little sprinkling will do
i'm just glad i can rely on my bug to get the job done when i need it to do so

The Philippines isn't the only place with floods. Just look at Pakistan and the U.S.! Floods are pretty common. My city has had floods in the past, and it got to the point where my city learned to come up with a great drainage system, and also to use a lot of that water for drinking water and other things.
