he University of Hyderabad in 2009 declared honorary doctorates for Anand and four others - including noted mathematician David Mumford and theatre personality Ebrahim Alkazi. But the university only formally forwarded the proposal to the Human Resource Development Ministry on August 18 this year. Due to the inept act of the University and HRD's spineless procedures the award couldn't be given in the International congress of Mathematicians currently going on in Hyderabad. Anand is playing simultaneous chess with 35 mathematicians from around the world. Now this is sheer stupidity of HRD and the Hyderabad university. PM Manmohan Singh himself congratulated Anand after he won the World Chess Championship for the fourth time! What are your thoughts on this? Happy Mylotting!

Actually it is the main reason why India is not having world class athletes or sport persons. This kind of approach will never help India. Happy Mylotting!

The weirdest thing I’ve heard in a long long time…just read about this in today’s newspaper, but in a country like India, nothing is beyond our wildest imaginations. You’d think that people who are bringing such shame to our country in the ongoing CWG fiasco should be stripped off their citizenship (only if wishes where horses)…instead someone like Anand who’s brought only pride to his country, needs to prove this citizenship… even after his wife Aruna sent the photocopy of his passport clearly mentioning his Indian citizenship. You know what, I think it must be some cynical bast*ard somewhere in the bureaucracy whom Anand did not give much importance, and now this guy is creating all these problems so that Anand does not get the honor from the university! Nevertheless, Anand knows his place in the heart of millions of admiring Indians who are very much aware of his contributions to making India proud.

Yes you are right! Some cynics just want to create an issue where there is no issue! But it also shows how inept HRD department is and in general government procedures. Happy Mylotting!

I too read about the stupidity of HRD ministry and I felt shame on them. He is a world champion from India and HRD ministry is not familiar with him. Later the minister apologized but it will be shame to the ministry to insult such a great person. He refused to react on the incident and really He is a great man.

In our country most of our politicians and babus doubt their mother too. They have to ask their mother about the identity of their father.
