A Federal Judge has ruled that a 1996 law that bans the use of Federal Funds that support research in Embryonic Stem Cells that came from embryos that were destroyed to get the cells (Embryos from abortions). This only applies to Federal Money and not private money. http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20100824006595/en/ACT-Uniquely-Positioned-Sources-ES-Cells-Qualify However there was one company (Advance Cell Technology http://www.advancedcell.com.) that was using venture capital that developed a process that allowed them to use a single cell to grow a line of embryonic stem cells. This cell usually came from genetic testing done while the fetus is still in the womb and no damage is done to the fetus. While the politicians were using Embryonic Stem Cell Research to support or not the cause of abortion. If the government would get out of the business of choosing the winners and losers in business based on political considerations rather than getting out of the way and let the market work, this is what you come up with a way to develop stem cells that don't harm the fetus. Just like the Ethanol Fuel Program that the government said it would fund Corn Based Ethanol research, we got higher prices for everything that used corn from gas to soda to meat. No money was spent on other forms of Ethanol Research and such areas as using sweet grass which is what Brazil did and has Ethanol to export. The government always has other motives to invest in research and any scientist will tell you that when you set out to discover something you keep your eyes wide open or you will miss something. With government funding they limit you field of view with their restrictions.

There is no need for Embryonic Stem Cells, as Adult Stem Cells work a lot better... and do not harm any fetuses. That is just another in a long line of dirty little secrets that the lying liberals would rather we didn't know about. The government is involved with far too many things that exceed it's limits.

My point was that if you get the government out private business will find a way to do it. In this case they develop embryonic stem cells without harming the embryos.
