Is there no other better ODI opener than Kartik for India

there is no point really in grooming a yougster to take over the opening slot. even gambhir goes down the order when sachin plays. there are already three openers. it would be unfair to say only kartik has failed in this series. all the batsmen except sehwag have flopped. if kartik was playing down the order he would have certainly made a better contribution in terms of runs. not to forget he played a good role in india's victory over srilanka as he played out the initial phase with sehwag and made sure india did not lose many wickets.

No, there are more options than we think, for an example R Sharma is best instead karthik. OK apart from this karthik is been never better choice for opening indian line-up, he just serve for himself not for contribution in Team. so he should be sent back to his hometown. still selection board is making same silly mistakes day by day, not only opening selections but also about line up. For example, the best all rounder Irfan Pathan is also been suppressed for long time and now no1 thinks about him. there are more example like this, nd i m sure selection board will never improve it.

I think DK is used as a default replacement at any position. What they try to do is ask him to fill any vacancy. The poor guy retains his spot in the team because of this flexibility. But of course, there cannot be much of consistency from him given this state of affairs. Anyhow for the world cup I am sure Sachin and Sehwag will open the innings with Gambhir at one down!! Cheers! i think india team selection have made the biggest mistake of their lives by sending kartik as an opener. i mean what were they thinking.i know kartik has grown as a player and he plays well but it doesn't mean that you will send him as an opener. he plays well in the middle order. why there isn't gambhir in the team why he is not being picked in the team. he and sehwag are great openers they can score against any team. sehwag and kartik are not compatible and should not be sent together. he's a middle order batsman he can play there only why india test players in the middle of a series i mean i don't understand there are ranji matches there's ipl everything why don't they play him there as an opener.

Hi, Once upon a time ,INDIA had some of the best openers.But due to injuries,they are not able to attend some matches.In their absence youngsters are getting chances to prove themselves.SHEWAG-GAMBHIR was the good combination for opening the batting line up .In their absence,no one is fit to fill their place.Karthick is not fit for opening the batting for the Indian team. He is not giving any seriousness in game.Maybe,others should be given a chance or any other batsmen must come top the order to help the batting line up.

better opener or not but better earner are there. Thy all know to earn not play any more. Real Cricket is missing!

Kohli is a much better option than Kartik in the present Tri series In Srilanka.Besides this YUvraj or Raina Are the ones one can bring some change , as they na re Lefty and would make right and laftHand Combination in the absense Of Gautam Gambhir. Have a Nice day

I agree with you, actually, he is not being given the chance because of his talent. It is because SriKanth and Karthik both belong to the same place. Srikanth is a virus who is corrupting the Indian team, he is doing everything for his purpose. He does not have any sense or feeling for his country, his main motive is to put karthik somewhere in the batting line up. Karthik has played well only once, when Sachin was not out on 96 on the other side. I felt like killing this guy for those two shots (6 and 4). Randiv and SriLanka are being penalized for such thing, this guy, Karthik, has the same mentality for Indian players and that too with "Sachin", still...........he is in the team??? This could not be possible because of his talent, it is because of the backup of Srikanth. I wish, this SriKanth virus will be deleted soon and Indian team can include their good players like Irfan pathan and kick out these ordinary players who are of no use to Cricket or Indian team.
