In the King James version Bible read Genesis 11: 1-9. It states there that at one time we all spoke the same language. But this was after Noah's flood ! People were in fear of another flood so they all got together and said they should build a city and a tower that went up to Heaven. And God looked and seen what evil humans was doing so HE said lets go down and make everyone speak different languages to confuse them so they couldn't do such evil. That is why we all speak a different language! Did you know this? Do you like learning the the truth about the bible? Have you ever read this in the bible?

I certainly did know about that! We spent a couple of days going over that very story in RS in primary school. It seems like a decent story- apart from the fact that there's no way they would have been able to build a tower that high at that time, is there? If you look at the tallest tower at the moment, how is it possible that there was going to be one thousands of times bigger, that far ago in the past? The story does make sense though. But now everyone is able to communicate, anyway!

Hi GemmaR. I knew about this from childhood bible school. I don't know but it says in Genesis 11:4 And they said , Go to , Let us build a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven: and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 5: And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. 6; And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one and they have all one language and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they imagined to do. Psalms2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? Not everyone is able to communicate with everyone of different languages. I think God would prevent evil from ever happening like this again.

Hi Rurz and welcome to my lot. I really like your response. Because without God what could we ever accomplish?

He had to confuse their language because they weren't doing it for the right reasons, on the other hand it goes to show us that when we are in unity with Him and each other we can do what seems impossible.

The work of Our Lord is perfect, but I have a question, we "humans" are trying to create a "universal language", is it wrong? are we doing the same mistake as before?

Hi Lucas and welcome to my lot. The LORD is prefect. I don't know if it is wrong or not. But I do know that it is just a sign of the times of the LORDS returning back to this earth. The mistake as it was in the past, we as humans decided to protect our own bottoms by trying to build a tower to Heaven. And God didn't like it then and HE won't take any bull from any of us. God will deal with those that try to do what is wrong in HIS way. We all have to pay for our sins. What goes around comes around!

I don't know. I've read some of the pages in the old and new testaments but I'm not sure about what you said. I thought the bible refers to what happened at the Tower of Babel that made everyone spoke different language afterwards? I even saw a movie about it. Anyways, i don't believe on every little thing that was written in the bible. Some of them makes sense, some don't. Some of them contradicts with another. I think the people back then went to different places we now call continents and countries and to be able to communicate with one another they made up their own language. I mean even to this day we all still make up our own language slangs. We're still evolving...

Hi Gicolet. The bible does talk about the tower of babel. When the people decided to build a tower up to Heaven they all spoke the same language. That is why God made us to speak in different languages. It says in Genesis 11:7 Go to , let us go down, and ther confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8: So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

Hi Dweebs. I do believe it is as you say a curse and a gift. To learn new languages and not understand everyone. Thank you for your comment.

Hi Queery. This is awesome! I wonder how people could see these amazing miracles happening before their very eyes and not know that God is great. God is amazing! I wish I could have been born back in those times. I wonder how life walking and talking with God would have been. I wonder what God thinks now when HE looks on us humans. I wonder if God is more grieved about making us humans! I wonder if God looks down on this world and sees all the hate and hurt in this world and gets really sad that HE made us humans, more then HE did when HE said it grieved HIM back in the old testament!
