Or are you yourself superstitious? When our baby girl was newly born, my wife never would go out but with sciccors or garlic with the little one. Do you think it is amusing or what?

Hi, man2sting. I have never heard about this one! The only superstitious thing that I avoid is, not allowing my infant to go out into the weather until they are over a year old. Other than that, I don't have any other superstitions.

I really do not believe in such things, but because I have a grandmother, I have always given advice relating to something that does not make sense. Like when I was pregnant, I am required by my grandmother to pocket a small pair of scissors in the pocket. I do not really believe, but I do to honor my grandmother.

The garlic thing is funny! lol Anyway, there are also some superstitions with my family but it has nothing to do with the garlic. My father is somewhat superstitious in some things and I really dont believe in them but of course, I respect his beliefs.

Superstitious Beliefs is against the 1st commandment of God... no other strange supernatural beliefs to be followed except the message of God written in his Holy Bible.... we have only one God, even Virgin Mary have no superstitious commandments... committing sin against 1st commandment like SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEFS is much more heavy to compare to Thou shalt not kill, or Thou shalt not steal....

I think it is really weird when your wife did that. When was your born? the date I mean, do you know of the superstitution called TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA. There is am article in hubpages on triskaidekaphobia, read it. I think superstitution is very weird, but also a beleif system that affects people's behaviour.

We do follow as much as possible if we know about some superstitions just to be safe than sorry. Anyway, we wouldn't loose anything if we try it. We're much too scared of the consequences. Better safe than sorry. Although I don't know about the garlic and scissors. Let me share some that I know of: Do not trim your nails at nighttime because you are shortening the lives of your parents/loved ones. During Chinese ghost month, it is better to avoid going to hospitals for consultation or other purposes. Do you know any of these too?

hi man2sting I am not at all supersititous. I have heard all the old wives tales and do not believe in any of them. If you do not believe you will surely not be bothered any way. I gather the garlic is to ward off bad creatures of some sort. the scissors I do not know about but I will not laugh at your customs. I may be amused but I will never belittle others customs at all.

I wonder what those scissors or garlic are for? I don't believe in superstitious beliefs but I find it amusing. And it is best for us to be cautious at anything especially when our love ones are involved..
