Hi mylotters. I use my computer very frequently. From time to time, I connect to the internet or do some other interesting things. For this reason, I always leave my computer on, sometimes when I am at home, I switch it on in the morning till I go to bed at night. However, once a friend of mine who noticed that told me to put it off and on again when I need it to save electricity bill. On the otherhand, I read somewhere that booting a computer takes more power than leaving one idle for a long time. Which is true? Do you have an idea what I should do best? Thanks

yes he is obviously correct. but what about your need then.I think even computer has a better option of standby. When you are not working on your computer put it on standby mode. This will be in sleep conditions and when you get back it will be ready for you in seconds.

I always turn my computer off when I go to bed because it overheats and then it crashes. I would give your computer a break while you sleep so it won't overheat and wear out and then crash your hard drive where it will die.
