My daughter from New York called last night and asked me if I would keep an eye out for some place that sold soy ribbon yarn. She bought some on vacation in Lincoln NE but now that she is home in New York she can't find any....have you heard of this yarn? Do you know someplace she can purchase it?

I know of a company that carries two types of ribbon yarn made out of Soysilk. There is a slight chance that this may be what your daughter may be referring to. The company is called South West Trading Company (www.soysilk.com) and the two types of yarn are called Phoenix and Oasis. Both yarns are ribbon yarns... Oasis is smaller than Phoenix. I've worked with both and just love the feel of these yarns. You do have to be careful when you make garments though. Make sure you fold and store them in a drawer or shelf because like cotton, the garments tend to stretch if left on a hanger. If you go to the web site, you can find shops in your state that carry SWTC yarns. I hope this may help a bit on your quest for this yarn. :-) Pinka

I read a couple of articles online about soy ribbon yarn and the ladies mentioned they bought this yarn at their local craft stores. She might check with Joann's, Michael's and Hobby Lobby. E-bay also had some of this yarn on their site but it looks rather expensive.

SHe has checked Michaels and Hobby Lobby and some of her local yarn stores...she just loves crocheting with it so hopefully she'll be able to find some. I am going to JoAnn's today or tomorrow to also look for it.

Never heard of it but Ebay is always a great place to look for the unique and odd items that can be found nowhere else.

No I have never heard of this type of yarn, i would have to say she might be able to buy some from someone who spins their own yarn as they might have it, or maybe just look online. Soy Ribbon Yarn, the first thing that comes to mind is homemade. What store did she get it at in NE?
