What make facebook a good promising sites than other social networking?

I feel that facebook is getting lot more attraction from all sphere of family members, and now include advertising features. What do you feel that made it more prominent than other social networking sites that are present on the web now.

i think its because its new. When friendster and myspace were new, they were as promising as facebook but when facebook was introduced, people forgot about myspace and friendster already. Maybe if there's going to be another social networking site much better than facebook, people are going to forget it too.
