I don't know if this an insult to some country but I observed that most of the non-us player of NBA rather rest than joining their respective national team in the FIBA World Basketball Championship. Yes some are injured but some really scheduled to get operated by this time. Maybe this is not Olympic that is why they rather rest, but you know as a basketball fan I wanted to see these great athletes play against each other to show their supremacy for their country. What do you think?

i think it was mainly because it wasn't the olympics.

It really depends on their health and mileage. As mentioned Pau Gasol has had a lot of minutes over the last couple of years and with the Championships coming when they do it makes sense for some of these players to take a break. It's the same with some of the top American players.

I can see that too. I guess non-US NBA players deserve their pretty much needed rest this summer. Like say, Spain's Pau Gasol. He has played 88 games throughout the course of the regular season up to the last game which was the Game 7 Finals vs. the Celtics. And because of that, he can probably ask to excuse himself to rest than to play because he needed rest to be able to prepare next season as well as being healthy too. Also, some players like Yao Ming surely won't play because of injuries. And the rest of the non-playing non-US players just rest it out because it may be their teams' request that they aren't allowed to play because they may get injured in the Fibas which may cause the player next NBA season. Even though it may seem as an insult, players deserve rest as well as to protect themselves from getting injuries. I even expected US NBA players such as Kobe, LeBron to play but I got my expectations down because it isn't happening. Olympics is the big dog I guess. That is where all the countries' superstars come to play. Best of luck to your teams

Most of the players are training and getting most of their rest. That's why most of them didn't choose to play. They want to be physically and mentally prepared for the upcoming season.
