I have joined mylot just a week ago and I have seen that many people post comments and discussions which pertain to their personal life. Is that fair, making his or own life public, or it is an opportunity to get a better solution to their problems.

I for one is guilty of this charge.
I've been publicly sharing my personal life experiences since I became a member here. In fact, I'm more open here unlike in the social networking sites that I'm a member of such as facebook, etc. I guess its just an opportunity for me to know other member's opinions or suggestions on how I deal with something in life. Also, I find it less embarrassing sharing my personal problems with people who doesn't know me in person .I'm not an expressive person in my personal life that is why writing here helps me express what I have in mind and as well as how I feel.
Have a nice day

Think how we are when we get chatting in the pub, or at a party, with our friends. We divulge stuff we never would to our family, doctors, or workmates. I think MyLot is as close to a "real life" discussion as it's possible to get. Often, discussions here feel like "agony aunt" pages in magazines - except you know you'll generally get a reply, rather than suffer your letter being binned!

I have seen that the people who post their personal problems most remain anonymous. They do not reveal their identity. They use a pseudonym, they do not have their own photo, but of something or someone else. The advantage is that by posting their problems here they are able to view it with different perspective. Different people offer them solutions, now they have to choose from.. They can tackle it from different angle. I think there is not harm if you post your personal problems here. Sharing your problems here with other lightens your heart. Words of encouragement from others rather help you to tide over your difficulties.

Hi Kartik
I don't think it is about making your or someone's life public.. it is about getting advice on the situation or sometime getting a different view on it... When in confusion you should get some advice .. and with so many people here you can get different view and solutions... so you can decide on what to do..
