We show our appreciation for our teachers on Teacher's Day by giving them some small gifts like a gift of song, poem, dance in a concert or a simple card. There are some teachers who feature more greatly in our lives than others and whose memory will always be etched in our memory. I remember a lady teacher who made my English Literation lessons very interesting and I did well in the subject subsequently. Another teacher who was more tough during her geography lessons and often "plant trees" in class by making us all stand when we couldn't answer her questions. And I have met lecturers during my higher education who were commited to our understanding of the lecture and making it more interesting with very funny jokes to perk us up. How about you? Do you have a favourite or memorable moment of a teacher?

hi ladybugr, being a teacher's pet may have contributed to favouring a teacher perhaps. It has a very mentoring feel to it. Hope you will have more good mentors along the journey of life.

Teachers do play a large part in our lives, however, I was always the timid student in awe of teachers and tried not to get close to them if possible, so I do not really have a favourite teacher. I do remember one negative incident though. This happened when I was a primary one kid. At that time, corporal punishment was still common and one day, I forgot to bring a textbook or forgot to do homework or something like that, then this teacher used a heavy book and knocked me on the head with it. Remember I was just 7 years old at that time. I always suspect that I got stupid because of that one incident.

Various teachers. In sixth grade, I had an English teacher who read books to the class - I found some of my favorite books in that class. She also gave us interesting book reports, like doing commercials for the books or giving the talk by pretending to be a character from the book. Also, math is my worst subject, and my most hated, but one of my favorite college professors was an algebra professor. That was because he had the most phenomenal amount of patience I've ever seen in a teacher. I made the best grade I'd ever gotten in a math class with him. But, I was even more impressed by how he handled some troublemakers -yes, even in college- without either letting them walk over him or losing his patience.

hi Angelwriter, indeed so. It is appalling to know that teachers make or break your interest in school during your impressionable years. Besides studying, I think opportunities to interact with the teacher whilst at ease would have far reaching results too.

Yes, I do have a very memorable teacher in school. She was a geography teacher during my high school years. We were all always so impressed with the way she taight us about the countries around the world. During my travels these days, when I get to those wonderful countries, my favorite teacher always comes back to my mind, with all the beautiful memories and gratitude.

there have been a lot of memorable experiences with my teachers from primary to tertiary level. and it's for the reasons that they have either made the lessons fun and exciting or very understanding and a pro-student type of teacher. they also become memorable because of their quirks, one teacher can 'see' what normal people can't, the other is contradictory. Even the terror teachers are memorable especially when you've found the things that make them your ally. and something that we are proud of, although it may seem inappropriate, is making a teacher cry because of us.

hi sjhaeki - teachers must have a passion for teaching so that the students can be touched by their passion. Yup and I think reality hits hard when you see a teacher cry because of us.

I do have a favorite teacher at school. I was in pre school at that time when I liked her. She was pregnant when I started school and when she was due, it was in the middle of the school year. She has to leave school for a while and since she's going to be gone, I also had a break from school at that time.

hi kuaixueshiqing, to have a boring lesson made interesting shows the earnest-ness of the teacher to ensure that you stay interested in the subject. We must give thanks for all good mentors and teachers.
