Traveling adventures for young people.

I just came back from Arica in the north of Chile, South America. The city is at sea level, near the frontier with Perú.
I am not that young anymore, but daringly did many things I wanted to do since I was young. I think that many times young people don´t realise that theirs is the best age to travel as the body can stand some stress more than when you get older.
From Arica there are tours to go to the altiplano, a great mesa very high above sea level. The tours take with them oxigen just in case and also know other means of helping should the passengers need it.
In the top of the South America world, the guanacos, alpacas and vicuñas live in peace. They are graceful creatures that roam in the wild. I will post a picture of one of them.
The aymaras have domesticated the alpacas and sell the tourists beautiful knitted gloves, scarves and socks for not more than $2.
I went to Arica with some friends but they did not dare climb up this high. As one of the places I want to visit someday is Machu Picchu, I wanted to know how I did at 4.800 meters above sea level. I came back safe and sound, with a headache that was less important than the experience.

I really enjoyed hearing about your adventures in the north of Chile. You did superbly to climb so high. I think that it must have been lovely for you to see the alpacas. One day I wish to visit Machu Picchu in the mountains of Peru. I have had many adventures in my lifetime and I began traveling when I was a teenager. When I was 20 to 21 years I traveled around the world and tried para sailing. It was similar to being a bird and able to fly. Wow! When I was 29 years old I traveled to New Zealand and did a couple of multi day walks. Hug to you my dear friend.

Thanks Maxine, it was all beautiful. Not only the tour to the Chungará but also many other places we visited. We went to a valley near Arica, the Azapa valley, where they have a small but beautiful museum as they discovered there the world´s oldest mummies (way older than the Aegyptian ones).They are called the chinchorro mummies. At the museum they also keep beautiful carved stoned. I took a picture of them. I´m sending you one of them.

I love to go places. Sometimes it is the beach, sometimes it is the country and others it is a place full of history.
On 2008 and 2009 my vacations were at the Caribbean. The first of them it was only beaches as I went to Aruba. The second vacation mixed the sea (sailing and adventure) with beautiful beaches(at Panamá)and awesome culture (I went to see the Kuna indians at Kunayala).

I would LOVE to go to Machu Picchu, I love ruins! not so much off the beaten path, but I have really enjoyed going to the various Anasazi ruins around the Four Corners in the U.S.

Nice description of your trip adventure. I always want to go on adventure while I am still young. I always afraid that I don't have much chance when I am getting older, or if I start a family already. But my dilemma is that I don't want to go alone, and I always want to attach my friend too.

hi,i m like travelling the long distance i go by van or bus.i like that situation very much.i should be sitted in corner seat and then i like air.i like to go other cities go by bus and then i want to go by flight also.because still now i won't go by flifght.i m eagarly waiting to go by flight.
