I got a job offer as a volunteer in an NGO engaged in the environment. At first glance, the job is very interesting and fun because I can see a very interesting animal, the orangutan. But, as the father of three children, of course I needed money and could not have gained as a volunteer worker ... What and how you think about volunteer work?

Going on a volunteer work is also a good thing. I think its also noble. When I was in college, I also wanted to volunteer to work for communities that are far from civilization. I wasnt able to do that yet but if there's a chance for me, I am going to. But of course, I would do it for only a few months.

hi advokatku most people cannot afford to do something like that if they do not have a day job. volunteering is great but men and womem must work to support and care for families it has to be an on the side thing maybe in an eveninng or two or on weekends. the economy the way it is we have to be paid for our work first, volunteering has to come second.volunteering is great for the well to do or the retiree who has the time, if he has other funds coming in all the time.

Volunteering is an awesome way to learn new things and give yourself the opportunity to give back. You never know that what you are volunteering for could teach you something you never new. Going the extra mile for something or someone never hurt. Give and it shall be given back. I can so understand your situation about needing money since we are subject to work in this life. Volunteering with your children is awesome as well.

It's good to be a volunteer and advocate of NGO's promoting an idealism which coincide with yours. It's fulfilling to be an extra help in implementing and doing advocacy stuff. It's way cooler that the NGO you engaged in is about the environment. I think if I were in your case, I would do volunteer stuff whenever I have free time and look for a regular job. It wouldn't be my source of income since of course, I wouldn't be making money from it for my family. I would be active with it and involve my family, but I wouldn't give a lot of my time for it. It's cool to volunteer for those kinds of advocacy, but I believe that our first priority should be ourselves and our family so that there wouldn't be a conflict, and you'll be able to put your heart into it because you're not stressed about anything.

I would only do it if I have a stable job and if I have time. I too am a father and my family takes up much of my time. I guess when I already have a steady income where I don't have to work, i.e. having a business, that's the time I'll go volunteering.

Volunteer work is good but if you are not paid for it (there are volunteer programs that offer allowances), then, you should re-think your priorities especially because you have children depending on you for support.
