In recent days, the Manila hostage event provoked so much disscussions.First Chinese state pressurized Manila to complete the investigation of the hostage crisis as quickly as possible, and then expressed dissatisfaction at the use of flag on the hostage-taker's coffin. But what's more controversila,it is reported that the organizers of 2010 Miss Asia Pageant refuse Philippine contestants to run on the grounds of considering their feelings, which was criticized to be "stingy".I express understanding to the behavior of the HK organizers, but I don't approve it because we cannot transfer someone's anger on other innocent people. And I think the option of participation is up to themselves.

Yeah, the Manila hostage event make aii Chinese persons very sad, esepically the HK people. They are very anger.Condidering theri feelings, the organizers of 2010 Miss Asia Pagesnt refuse Philipine contestants to take part in.I think this is not stingy. The organizers are worried about some bad even happening, after all the similar thing having happened.

i was paying close attention to the manila hostage event,as far sa i know there are about twenty thousand filipino are working in HK,and none of them had got any hurt after The event.so i think your concern about the filipino contestants maybe get something bad happened to them is needless.Whats more the hold of the miss asia pagesnt is to spread the ture, the good, the beautiful, we shouldnt involved the event into the 2010 miss asia pagesnt.

yeyelee, I don't recall anything good coming from the Philippines with regards to the tragic hijacking and as such, I believe so would the multitude at the pageantry. I think you need to realize that the pageantry event is really cutting close to the tragic aftermath and with the Philippine authorities still fumbling i.e. tagging the caskets wrongly, lack of cooperation in the joint investigations and more - I don't think that there will be good feelings or sentiments or have to tell you how strained the relationship is with both countries. I am of opinion that the organizers are more being mindful of the safety of the pageants and audiences of this worldwide event. Also, there's no assurance that the Filipino participant will not receive unfavorable comments, negative media attention and worse being jeered at by politically motivated individuals or emotional sentimentalists. There may be an ugly majority but a bashed up pageant will just further strain a strained and injured relationship. Chinese are never "stingy" or vindictive but with emotions running high, you cannot say that we'd be foolish not to consider the repercussions and consequences. It may seem mean-spirited here but if you look at this rejection objectively, I can assure you that the means really justify the ends. Have a nice day.
