Hi guys. I know a lot of you heard Balut, one of the delicacy in the Philippines. For me its really good, i could eat at least 2 or 3 the most in one serving. And try to dip it on a cane vinegar with lot of garlic, onion, and red chili, Yummy! Though it should be eaten moderately because its high cholestrol, hehehe. Have you tried balut? How's the taste of balut? Do you like it? Happy eating Balut!

Yes,balut is the delicacy of filipinos. People in rural areas are very fond of eating balut because for them its delicious. A vinegar with chili pepper will do the rest to be more palatable. But the only problem is that eggs has lots of cholesterol. Whether you fried it or for whatever menu you will prepare in the kitchen still the egg is a threat to our health.

I like balut but I can only eat 1 for every serving. I only eat the embryo if it's still small. Sometimes it has a distinguished beak already and lot of hair. I won't eat the embryo then. I love the juice. I like my dip just like yours but if it's not available, salt would do.

yes jonnifc, i also choose the small chick. Because if you get the big embryo, its difficult to swallow the chick with a beak, and when you chew it you'll feel the feet. :D

yes. its actually nice if these eggs could buy from a the duck owner, who makes the balut. well just to be safe that the balut is fresh. and as soon as you have it my mom said it must be cook/boil right away because the embryo will grow and that is what people don't like. :D Me either i don't want to eat the balut when the embryo gets bigger into a day old chick.

hehehe, yeah as what they say they throw the chick. but then as the old ones(folks), they said that the chick was the one that you paid for. :D hehehe but the soup and the yolk of balut (yellow part) makes the people ask for more. :D

Even if you don't look at it. It's impossible not to feel it in your mouth specially if the embryo chick is big and has feathers .

Nope, I haven't tried a balut egg before. But I have seen many other people eat it when I watch it on T.V. It does look pretty gross for us people here in North America but it does look like a real delicacy over there. I don't think I would be brave enough to eat an undeveloped embryo.

Yeah I love balut. But I am limiting eating it because of just like what you said, cholesterol. Not that I am high blood or anything, just a prevention. I like eating it little by little with salt and vinegar.

It is not one of my favorite food. I only eat it if someone had bought it. I love the juice and the yellow part which is the yolk specially if I put salt on it. But I really don't like the chick because it's hairy, but I got to eat it just recently. I chose the small one, I don't think I like it with a big chick on it.

I like balut. Balut is one of the exotic foods here in the Philippines because it gives you vitality. It looks bad but very good when you taste it. Smell and looks awful. It is rich in protein but yes it is not good to people with hypertension.

I know balut. Everyone here in the Philippines loves it. My family used to eat balut every few days. They love eating it specially the chick fetus. But not me. When I eat it, I just eat the real eww stuff and give my sister the fetus. Some people told me that the yellow stuff there is the fetus' poo. I can't remember what it is but it's the only thing I eat in balut. I still can't find the courage to eat that fetus and I still don't know why.
