Are you a foster parent to children that are on ritalin? I'm curious to know how many kids there are that are put on ritalin because they are in foster care. I know a parent who had her children removed from her and fought the courts to try to keep child protective services from putting her son on ritalin. She lost obviously and her son who I have seen on many occasions was never a very hyper kid but he would get into trouble with the law, so in order for the foster family to be able to handle him he was put in ritalin. There was never a diagnosis of ADD just drug the kid into a stupor so he is to doped up to even try to get into trouble. Is that right or wrong? Where do the courts get off thinking that just drug him with legal prescription drugs and he'll be fine. I also know foster parents who had about 6 kids in there care reanging from age 10-15 and everyone of those boys was on ritalin or some other mood altering drug. But here's the thing they still went out and got into trouble. So are there bodies just getting used to being on the drug than what give them more? Is that the solution? Drug them and they'll be fine?

Well, I'm not a foster parent. However, in my experience I have seen a lot of children that are on ritalin and I think that a lot of the reason for it is because the natural parents don't want to deal with the natural activity of a child. That said, I know that foster parents tend to have several kids at one time and because of the fact that the state does pay for their medical care it is easier to keep children very calm.
