have you Ever Heard about DARK ENERGY DARK MATTER/ANTI MATTER and Big Bang
I mean all we did hear about all these years is that it would recreate the big bang in 2009 so ?September 10 ,2009 was when in the initial test of LHC occurred - they sent a beam around the collider to confirm everything works as expected. An international team has installed the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in a 27-kilometer ring buried deep below the countryside on the outskirts of Geneva, Switzerland. When it begins colliding particles, the LHC will be the world’s most powerful particle accelerator. Scientists predict that its very-high-energy proton collisions will yield extraordinary discoveries about the nature of the physical universe......
Threat:
The builders of the world's biggest particle collider are being sued in federal court over fears that the experiment might create black holes or never-before-seen strains of matter that would destroy the planet.

I consider this exactly what it is an experimentation. Many predicting that the world would end in 2012 really makes me chuckle from time to time as I do not believe it for one bit.
As for the law suit I think it is just people with too much time on their hands as people are so apt to sue and not really discuss as to why such experimentation are either positive and or negative.
Both sides derive at their own theories and no one comes together to really determine if yes or no the theories are possible or not. It leaves so many to simply speculate.

Yes, I have heard the news about it, and also the possibility of creating black holes in it. Some one said the black hole would swallow other matters and get bigger and bigger, finally it would swallow the whole earth; but other scientists believe it's impossible through the result of their calculation. Who knows?
