I'm not a mom, but I would just like to add a tip to the dad, or to whoever is going with you. I don't know what the policy is at the hospital where you are going, but if they allow pictures taken, make sure your cameras are charged, or you got the batteries to go. When my son was born, we had a 'go-bag' which supposedly had everything we need. Of course when time was at hand we had the still cameras and video recorders, but not the batteries and it wasn't charged.

Here are some ideas off the top of my head ... clothes for you - Clothes to go home in outfit for baby - Outfit to bring baby home in Baby Book - So you can write everything in while it's fresh in your mind Birth Announcements - So they are done and just have to be delivered Make Up - If you wear make up you may want to bring it as their will be a lot of pics Slippers - so you aren't barefoot on the hospital floor Cell Phone or change for pay phone - so you can notify family right away Car Seat - They won't let you leave the Hospital without one Book Or Something To Do - As you may get bored if you end up staying for a bit Hmmmm that is all I can think of right now but if I remember something else I will come back! Hope this helps!

I've already responded in this discussion, and I just remembered one other thing that was really important. I see that PurpleTeddyBear has it here already. The car seat! No matter how close our house was at from the hospital, the nurses never agreed to let us go without the carseat.

I'm not sure as i dun have such experiences!! hehe ^_^ BUt i still wanna congrats u or being a mother, hopefully your deliverly will go smoothly, in giving birth to a healthy baby!! hehe I guess what u need to bring are just necessities or things to kill time, while in the hospital. Everything u require, should be available in the hospital itself, and u only need the support of your family to see u thru it.. hehe

I am not a mother yet but when my sister delivered her baby, she bought her baby things with her too. She also prepared her own bag and other stuff in there that she is going to need when she stays in the hospital.

Just and added since some are already mention, don't forget to bring and adult diaper besides the extra car seat. I wish you have a good mood during delivery that's the important one. :)

I was in labour for a long time with my first child. I listened to some advice but not others. I did bring a portable tape player/walkman (now it would be an ipod) to listen to music but my partner used it, not me. One thing I really should have done is brought peppermints. I was there a long time breathing into my partner's face and he later told me my breath smelled something awful. If you can, suck on peppermints, or brush your teeth often. Of course this depends on how long you are in labour but one never knows, do they?

I hope that you will have a wonderful birthing experience. Remember to take some comfortable clothes to wear whilst you are in hospital and an outfit to come home in. You might like to take some toiletries that you like to use in your daily life. If you wear contact lenses of glasses remember to take them with you. For your baby you will need clothing and baby sleep suits in the 0 to 3 months age range are useful. You will require some diapers. You will need to bring a car seat if you will be going in a car home. You might like to have some snacks in your bag. I have had three home births and after my last one I was taken away in an ambulance. I hadn't a hospital bag ready. I didn't have my shoes, my mobile phone or any money. All I had were the clothes I arrived in. Good luck with remembering all you will need.

You don't need to overburden yourself with belongings to bring to the hsopital when you are in labor. Just bring what will make you feel comfortable for your stay there. Take along what you need to bring your new baby home and what you will need to coming home as well. the rest of will take care of itself in time.

Congratulations in advance. You can prepare an inventory ahead of your expected date. Warm clothes of your new arrival, soft ones preferable should top the list. Napkins to keep the child dry, wet tissues, soap and shampoo for your baby, comfortable clothes for yourself and a small music system loaded with best melodies (or lullabies) for both of you!

First of all congratulations!!! I've been there so i know how anxious you are. bring a matching clothes for you and your baby to wear and have your picture taken then. Bring a something that you really like and hold on to it while you are in labor. I brought my favorite stuff toy with me. As well, dont forget newborn diapers. I was told by hospital staff on day 2 of my stay after giving birth that i have to provide diapers for the baby otherwise they will charge me. Let us know when you delivered the baby!!!
