Return of Van the Man

This week's Euro qualifiers marked the return of one of the most prolific striker ever, Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Not only he played, he scored a goal as well. I feel that the Dutch could have won the finals of WC had Van been a part of their squad.

I don't like Van Nistelrooy but I have to admit that he is one of the most clinical striker in the world. With him lurking in the penalty box, one can safely whipped in the cross and they will know that he will convert at least one of them. While his inclusion in the World Cup will definitely boost Holland chance of winning, I am not sure if he could have make a difference in the final itself. Spain totally outplayed the Dutch and latter is only concern about stopping the Spaniard from playing their flowing football.

Actually I was surprised that Ruud was back in the Dutch colors. But of course it was good to see him score again. I am not sure that he would have made much difference in the final against Spain. I think Van Persie and Huntelaar are currently better than Ruud as he has got slower and the stamina is a bit on the lower side over the last year for him. Anyhow it is great to see him back and scoring!! Cheers! Ram
