I agree with the people here to 100% The basic rule is that you need to eat less calories than your body actually requires. This can be done in several ways and does not have to include eating less. If you eat as you usually are and add cardio training, that training will help you to lose fat in the way that cardio needs a certain amount of energy (calories). If fat is what you really want to lose, since losing weight is very easy if you're just looking at it scale-wise. If you don't want to add any cardio traning you just have to eat a bit less everyday. The best way to achieve fatloss however is to combine cardio with a healthier diet. One thing I cannot stress enough though is DO NOT use a scale for determining your fat loss because people that hasn't got too much experience in this field is seeing the whole weight loss as fat loss. I'm not too good explaining this in english, mostly because it's 9AM and I haven't slept at all.. Try this if you don't know how easy it is to manipulate your own weight. Step on a scale, take a note drink a glass of water, step on the scale again. See any difference? this doesn't mean you've gained x pounds of fat! try doing number 1 (you know what I mean). step on the scale again.. Is the result matching the second one? No, right? But this doesn't mean you've lost x pounds or whatever in fat. See my point?

Oh I saw that you were asking us how we did etc. Im currently inactive since a month ago but I am training MMA (martial arts) 2 times a week, wrestling 2 times a week, thaiboxing 1-2 times a week. On top of that I'm doing some roadwork and gym routines. I usually keep things in rotation by focus on different aspects each month/2 weeks. Some months I'm focusing on strenght, other times I'm focusing on cardio etc etc. Saturday and sundays are made for resting.. period :)

I still believe the best way to lose weight is to watch one's diet. Extraneous work out is useless if you don't control your diet.

Don't want to be a jerk or something but actually that's relative to what you mean by controlling your diet.

if losing weight is only your goal, you don't need to go to gym, which is expensive now this days, just have strong discipline and determination to your goal, watch your diet and maintain your cardio exercise, here are some simple rules for fat lose and lose weight as well: 1. consume less calories than your body burns for five days a week and increase during weekend. 2. watch the mirror and pictures, not your weight scale. 3. if possible, attempt to exercise first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. 5. eat smaller more frequent meals throughout the day. 6. let water be your main beverage. 7. go to bed early. ...hope this help
